Re: Electric Vehicles: What have you spotted?
Black Tesla Model X looking quite insignificant in Ponteland today.
Young peoples protest today about climate change.............if the UK is aiming to lead the world in the adoption of zero-emission transportation (yes from 37.5 million tailpipes) its going painfully slow at the moment judging by the make up of the nations private vehicle fleet, and the anecdotal evidence of this spotting thread. In my experience Teslas these days are a regular spot and leafs are common place. Anything else very thin on the ground. Ford and Vauxhall EV?.....I could offer 1000 points for a spot right now and they are likely to be unclaimed for the next 2 years.

Indeed, it is very much Tesla, Leaf and Zoe with the rare sighting of a BMW.
A scattering of hybrids, mainly Toyota and the odd Prius.

There are plenty of Leaf's around, even up in the Countryside, this one with a nice patina of good old country grime! I was going to say I was also using a zero emissions vehicle (ie my bike), but I was pumping out carbon dioxide for the entire journey!

My question when I see such as this is "Why" what's the point of developing such beasts, unless you are a track day fiend there's nowhere in the world you can drive the thing and for daily use it's frankly useless.

The Rimac is allegedly very comfortable and quite pleasurable to drive on normal roads.
For 2 million quid it should be too.

Top comment Gibbo, my thoughts exactly when I caught top gear by mistake yesterday, and they were charging round a track in "the scariest Porsche 911 ever". Said pretty much the same thing!

Did you see the report in the news today?
Volvo to impose 112mph speed limit on all their cars produced from mid 2020.

Why climb Everest or trek to the south pole when both are expensive and dangerous ? Because you can. Why build the fastest road car in the world and have it be an EV ? Because you can.
Nobody is suggesting to use it for the school run...

Re: Electric Vehicles: What have you spotted?
Well this particular electric car has been driven from Amsterdam to Australia. Appeared on the Travel Show this morning. Follows the no money in your pockets start and relying on the goodwill of people along the way for charging/accomodation/food as facilitated on-line.
Haven't looked the car up yet....not exactly sure what it is.
Regards Neil

Our Dutch friend stayed with a chap in Moscow who had an electric Lada, which he recharged with a long wire from his 3rd Floor apartment. At the time the factory manufacture them to order.
