There are only two possible positions: close or open - master or slave. Now it is on the master position. I can change on slave and try another time.

Yes - MASTER will NOT work! It has to be set to SLAVE, as the DVD Drive is always the MASTER device. :-D

I still think that the adapter is faulty, or isn't getting power. The problem is - the raw image I have is 24Gb, but when it goes into another system it will need the firmware to update to your system - it happened when I cloned my HD. I still had to use the firmware to update the system again - and with your situation this won't make any difference if the adapter is not working when in the unit. These are cheap enough - can I suggest you try a different adapter - something like the one I used?

I'll try as you suggest.
Can you give me the link of the adapter you used?

If it makes no difference - at least you can return it for a full refund - but will at least rule out the card. It just seems that the CF card is fine as you can read and write to is using your PC. But when the interface it installed in the NG4 it is either not getting power, (pin issue) or is not recognised. Always make sure you remove the power quadlock first and always plug it back in last after all the other connections are put in.

Marc,
sometimes very strange things happen, and for me inexplicable.
After the last failed attempt to use the CF card, I ordered a new adapter following your link.
Then I reassembled the hard drive and put the NG4 back in place waiting for the new adapter.
While I was traveling home I inserted the USB key with the upgrade software (NG4-N42c) and ... the upgrade process continued until the end ... 100%.
All NG4 functions are OK. Speech recognition is ok, phone is ok, navigation is ok.
IS IT A MIRACLE? :-)
The upgrade software I used is the one you sent me, and it's identical to the one I used before (as you can see in the screenshot below).
ConfrontoFiles.JPG
So what happened to make the NG4 change its mind?
Perhaps the continuous disassembly and assembly, startup and restart, have unlocked something that prevented proper operation.
In any case, now it seems that everything is working properly.

My dear C5 has already traveled 350000 Km and I hope that it still makes at least 100000 and that in the meantime even the NG4 still endures a couple of years :-)

I thank you for your patience
have a good day
Ivano

Great news Ivano.

Sometimes it can take several attempts, especially if the hard disk is damaged, so you may still have some issues in future.

I suggest that you still try the new adapter when it arrives just to see if you can get your CF card to work in the NG4. Then you can clone your working hard disk and maybe use that, whilst keeping you hard drive safe as a backup.

Fingers crossed.

What is it that you actually want? I posted a picture of the hard disk label on my original post right at the beginning of the topic. That has all the information for the hard disk on it.

Do you have Lexia with Diagbox? That will provide a fault code that I can help with
