New Forum Post Bookmark feature

Post by xantia_v6 »

You may notice a new Bookmarks button in the forum header and a bookmark icon:
bookmark.png
at the top of each forum post.

These are part of a post bookmarking extension that we are trialling. Please try it, and give us some feedback.
  • To bookmark a post (or delete the bookmark) just click the bookmark icon in the post. You may add a short comment to remind you why you bookmarked the post.
  • To see your bookmarks, click the bookmark icon in the forum header, which will take you to the bookmark page in your user profile where you can see all of your bookmarks (and delete them as you wish).
Some of your will know that there was previously a forum feature that allowed topics to be bookmarked, but that was not very useful on a topic with many (pages of) posts. We have disabled that old feature while the new feature is trialled.

It seems very promising to me but obviously needs a week or so of testing.
Is there anyway I could have a list of my previously bookmarked threads please, I only had a small number but they were all useful and I don't remember what 60% of them were.

Didn't use (wasn't even aware!) of the old bookmark feature but I'll give it a go. Thanks for trying out new features.

It looks good to me :) I can now keep track of obscure bits I often need :)

The new feature is brilliant.

I particularly like that it takes you straight to the bookmarked post and that I can name the bookmark.

It's a big timesaver so I vote to keep it.

I can see from the database logs that a few people are using it already, so it looks like we will be keeping it.
I am open to ideas on improvements, but cant promise anything.

It's a good idea if you want to come back to a topic later - where it won't then show up on your 'New Posts' once visited - so very worthwhile having - I just keep hitting it accidentally now instead of the edit post icon as it is first on the row.

Did you know that when you want to add a link when writing a post, you can just add your bookmark so link goes straight to the item and not the topic!! :-D =D> Re: New Forum Post Bookmark feature being evaluated

You always could do that by opening another tab (Ctrl-click) or window (Shift-click) on the post's individual header and then copying the URL of that post. I've just checked and it still works.
