hm, i could be wrong but in your picture i see that lower chrome part is just lays on on bumper , when it need to eb chambered in . we made a grroove and chambered it in by aproximately 2mm as well.

as for speakers- why choose hertz when you can have MUCH better quality for less money. most fo those companies made drivers in chinnese for their speaker lines. but for the most expensive car speaker lines (like alpine f1 status, exact etc) they buy drivers from scan speak or other brands I use in home speakers. you wont find better midrange speaker than this for the front doors instalation-
http://prekyba.combo.lt/lf-drivers/841-beyma-605nd.html

if you rework back doors podiums a bit those can be fitted http://prekyba.combo.lt/lf-drivers/828- ... 00fen.html

both are ordered form my local suplier.

for the tweeters one of the best solutions - http://www.sbacoustics.com/index.php/pr ... nc-c000-4/ and thay can be crossed low making soundstage in the car apear in the front (like in home speakers) not in floor. it cost only 30eur or so. other tweeters- better ones (scan speak with berylium domes ) are too expensive and not worth to mount.

another option like you mentined is 4 channle lower eficienty system with coxial driver in the back reproducing full range. hertz will be fine. but first version- dedicated mids downs to 100hz in the front and 8inch subwoofers in back doors taking over in 20-100hz range are better audiophile quality solution

if you will need any assistance when installing woofers/tweters let me know I woudl gladly help. i do not know anything about c5 upgrades like you but in audio things are diferent -its my primary work.

I would like to start with front tweeters, since I can do them quite easily, but I currently don't have any idea what to order, and I'd like to go for the stock look (using the existing triangular plastic cover), don't want to add tweeters that have their own (usually round) housing that sit on top ... I don't know why, but I was certain the car's speakers are actually 4 ohm, not 8 ohm?

What did you use for door sound dampening? I was looking at STP's products, something that's not too expensive (since I'll need a lot for all 4 doors).

yes it was exactly like my idea- too keep tweeter in their original places, but space is quite generous for tweeters in c5 and 29mm soft dome tweeters with neodymium magnets can fit there.

What about the ohms (refer to previous post)? What about the wiring, did you use existing wires going from the NG4 to each speaker, or did you pull new (higher quality) wiring for each speaker?

both tweeters and woofers in originals are 4ohms(rdc 3.4ohm) but i put 8ohms woofers visaton bg 17 instead original. visaton bg17 can be put basicaly plug and play with only slight modification(grind interior diameter few milimeters) ng4 and rt6 will offer only half power with 8ohm load comapring with 4 ohms but even with half power new woofers plays 4db louder than original, please see atached measurements (identical conditions)

on the back doors is nessesary to put 4 ohms woofers to benefit for full power of rneg2/ ng2 .

do not bothered changing wires its the tweeters and woofers which are responsible for performance.

the second step would be took signal levels from ng4 (some russiand done that, some of linear outputs can be simualted in diagbox but its not real line outputs..) and fed from it high quality amps (brax for example) but for me and probably for you no need to do that- I'm now fully satisfied with sonic quality and do not want to put any amps or rework anything more, changing woofers and tweeters was bigest jump in quality and everything else will be less efective but will take car space and spoil original car wiew. changing wires would be least thing i would do.

if you have original hi-fi amp already you can put in it wont hurt to have more power and maybe increased quality on highe sound pressure levels (less THD)

It will be interesting in my case, since the genuine hi-fi amp is really picky about the output devices ... at first, it wouldn't work, until I figured out (by chance) that the genuine tweeters are slightly different that hi-fi tweeters (not sure in which exact parameters), but I had to solder the wires directly to the tweeters, bypassing a condenser, or whatever it was mounted in between (soldered on the tweeter), and afterwards, the amp started playing sound ... that's why I don't know which exact tweeter (for a start) to get, to avoid having incompatible tweeters

that explains some things. the tweeters i bought in local audio store (better quality 25mm silk) was genue original citroen. -same enlclosure PSA citroen peugoeu marks etc. but they have three pins conectors and one of the pin is straight (bypasing cap) i had to modifly plugs to work them on mine car. i will do some photos of those both tweeters later.

ok I found pic online in my local shop http://www.rcl.lt/index.php?id=2&lang=l ... e=&frame=3

this is higher quality tweters not those which comes with stock c5 . so now i'm 90% sure hi-fi citroens have those tweeters.

the problem you had with your c5 genue amp probably was that when capacitor are in signal apth-apm/BSI seems its as broken circuit and wont offer output(c5 diabox "knows" when and which of my tweeters or woofer are disconected)
you definately can use any 4 ohm tweeter but it should be conected straiht (without any capacitor) low high pas xover is done via active crossover in your amp.

Couldn't have said it better myself ... :D ... that's exactly what it was, when I decided to bypass the attached capacitor (which is on the tweeters, that are linked with front woofers in parallel - standard non-hi-fi audio) and then connect to the amp, everything was working ... I'll try to see what kind of tweeters I can squeeze in the genuine triangular plastic compartment (I can do modifications under it, even using the plastic as a cover only, attaching the tweeter in the hole below the cover - somehow, haven't thought out this through enough)

this is one of the best and quite cheap tweeters you can squeeze in original places http://www.sbacoustics.com/index.php/pr ... nc-c000-4/

its already high end level tweeters and very cheap for what they ofers

Regarding the "floating tweeter" below the plastic cover, I was thinking of something like this:

Image

Of course, the tweeter in question is 3x the price of the tweeter you've suggested, so that will be skipped ... :D

I have looked at yout tweeter being three time more expensive its about three times less quality :) most of the money in car audio comes in marketing not driver design. Just take thise sb acoustic and you will not regret.i spent few evenings searching over all brands and those are best tweeters for what we want in c5.

Don't worry, I wouldn't invest so much in the twitter itself, I was only thinking about the rubber (or whatever material) band around it, that way, you could really be flexible with where and how to install it.
