Been down at my parents this week, so have looked out some photos of older cars. Sorry, more than one features a caravan!!
First off, where it all started. My Grandad was good friends with Les Barr, who ran this garage in Barrow in Furness, and swtiched to being a Citroen agent in the early 70's - it was all down hill from there! Guess this is mid 70's - the van AFAIR was an Ami Super - I did go in it in the mid 80s, by which time it was 'tired'!!
Sorry, false start, more to come!
Here we are:
This was one of my Grandad's GS's - just creeping into the frame on the left is what I assume is our first GS - a 73 ish Estate.
.
This was our third GS (Actually a GSA I think - and 1300 as well, but only 4 speed and it was a rust bucket that didn't last long!)
.
This was replaced by a MK1 BX 14E, seen here with a Dyane 6
The Dyane seemed adept in the snow (late 80's - SW of the Isle of Wight)
Then we started on the Visas... here is number 1 (a Super E in which I learnt to drive) showing its carrying capability.
Wider shot of the boat carrying Visa, also showing the BX, and Visa No 2 (a 2 cylinder 'Special') - the shadowy figure at the garage is a much younger me!
Visa 1 getting a wheel change (not me at the jack this time!) BX No 2 in the back ground - a MK2 16RS
Here is Visa No 2 as it arrived - it needed a new headlight for MOT which I appear to have removed...
Then Visa No 3 arrived - a MK1 2 Cylinder - bought becuase it was only £30 and the brown visa needed a rear suspension top cup, which cost more than that new.
It was stripped for parts....
Finally, Visa no 4 arrived - I never drove this one, but it was an '88 17D. Seen with a Nova (well we all have SOME secrets!), a Xantia (more later) and an AX 1.4D
Visas also appear to be good for pulling stuff..
Even if they are only 2 cylinder!!
Eventually the Special went off, and got made into a trailer - here getting its battery charged, and next to the AX. You'll note the multi coloured paint scheme by this stage - mostly due to being extensively modified by me on the front end
Back to BX No2 - caravan warning sorry. The caravan had just been assaulted by a Renault 19 on the OSF corner - the Ren came off worst!
The BX was then replaced by an early sinker Xantia LX 1.8i 8V. Also with Caravan....
Here was the situation at my parents one day... Visa 1 on show, Visa 2 just peeking out behind. AX in front, My first car, a MK2 BX 14 'Preview', and the MK 1 Xantia.
And during a family gathering - My first Xantia in red on the left (a 95N LX TD), an 02 Xsara HDi (still with us), an 87 BD 19RD Estate, and the Xantia again. Also a Ren Laguna which belonged to my Aunt and Uncle - they've seen the light now, and run a C4 - must be seen as slightly odd, given that they live in Germany! And yes, that is a Gold Rover

Thanks for sharing the pictures.
That lot doesn't look too disimilar from my parents car background, just with another Visa or two and less 2cvs.

Here's one of my favourites ..from about 10 years ago..After spending Christmas in Shetland.. just about to leave for Bournemouth.. You can see the juice in the doors.. Games in the bag and topbox full of Christmas presents..Every nook and cranny filled... and still managed 42 mpg.
The kids loved those rearward facing seats!! Shame thay have to grow up.

Looks like a 'Cadet' on the roof of the visa? Or maybe a miricle??
I have a picture of my bx that was put in the bxclub calendar some Years back, will try and dig it out, just put Brothers boat on the back in the boat yard in winter sunshine,

Just prove a Xantia will swallow anything...10' of tower scaffolding inside with the rear door open about 3cm.
