C5 X7 Electronic Parking Brake Removal / Fitting

Post by GiveMeABreak » 23 Aug 2019, 10:59

This is a guide on removing and refitting the Electronic Parking Bake (EPB) on a Citroen C5 X7.

  • A Diagnostic Tool such as Diagbox is recommended in order to place the parking brake in removal mode.
  • When raising hydraulically suspended X7s the vehicle should have the suspension raised to high and the LDS tank cap removed before raising the vehicle. Remember to replace on lowering.
Removal
  • Slacken the parking brake.
  • Raise and support the vehicle, with the rear wheels hanging free.
  • Place the electric parking brake in the removal position, using a diagnostic tool.
Note:In the event of a failure of the electric parking brake or a flat battery, the use of the backup unlock control allows the mechanical release of the electric parking brake.

Disconnect the battery! (Risk of automatic re-application of the parking brake by the ECU during removal operation causing damage / injury).
