Citroen C5 2011 1.6 HDI Non-confirmation of engine torque

Post by DinuIoan »

Hello,

I have a problem with my Citroen C5 2011 1.6HDi, I've done a test with my lexia and found out the C1391 error code with message "Fault: non-confirmation of engine torque". The problem is that when I hit the gas pedal the ABS/ESP error show up in my screen alongside with the check engine light.

Anyone has some ideas what it might be?

Thank you !!

Ok, so for this particular fault, this is what I have in the Diagnostics section. There is no frame data being sent to the ABS / ESP ECU from the engine ECU. So your ESP and ASR functions are disabled as a safety precaution. As you can see the recommendations are to check the connections to the Engine ECU to the ABS ECU and make sure there is nothing obvious that you can see. Other than that, there is little else I can suggest, short of getting it looked at by a competent Auto electrician that has experience with CAN bus multiplexed vehicles.

Thank you for your reply, I forgot to say that in the description of the error says that rear wheel has a different speed than the others. It’s something like :
Vehicle speed: 45KPH
Front LH wheel speed: 45 kph
Front RH wheel speed: 45 kph
Rear LH wheel speed: 46 kph

It’s not always the same wheel that has 1 more kph.. There might be 2 or even 3.

For my understanding the computer doesn’t recieves the correct value. I was at a citroen auto shop and they said that I need to update the soft of the engine. But I really really don’t trust them..

Ok, the speed information can vary if you have different tyre makes / sizes on the same axle or one of the tyres is at a different pressure. These can affect the ESP system, so always make sure you check the tyre pressures and that you have the exact same tyre make and tread pattern on each axle.

I remember when CitroJim had a weird problem with his XM. It turned out that he had mismatched tyre sizes on her. Once he got them corrected that problem went away.

I will check the tyre pressure to be sure. The idea is that i have the issue since i bought the car, i’ve bought new tires last autumn and the error still showed up. The interval between errors was 2-3 months, But one month ago I was at a citroen auto shop to do some repairs and imediatly after i went out the service the error shows up everytime I hit the gas pedal a little harder.. Maybe they did something to go back to them.. I don’t know..

Thank you very much for your time!
