2.0dci - Oil leak from Left side of intercooler!

Post by Axa »

Whats the verdict on this?

Is there any other possible cause then bad turbo oil seals filling up the intercooler?

Dodgy engine breather system, check that's all in order before blaming the turbo.
Man is, by nature, a lazy beast, he does not need twice encouraging to do nothing.

Investigation further up indicates your suggestion about the breather are correct considering the same kind of leak and contamination where the breather hose connects to the air inlet pipe..

Any further suggestion on how to solve it?
Clean out the breather unit and intercooler and hope it won't happen again for some time.

I have read some suggestions about adding an oil collecting canister or a DIY solution with some hose and a plastic bottle..

Can the leak in the edge of the intercooler be sealed?
Epoxy around the joints?

Well... Breather removed and the only thing not in order I can find is the tube I managed to crack since I was to lasy (and certainly stupid enough) to unclip the turbo outlet air pipe to begin with!

Now glued back on with epoxy and stronger then ever before 😊

So that leaves the assumption this system is not very efficient and needs support. So I will probably get some 14-15mm internall diameter heat n oil resistant hose and look into making a DIY oil collector ..
