Hello to all,
we are replacing the steering lock module on a Megane.
When we took off the plastic covers to reveal the module , the torx bolt on the module is hand-loose. We know its a left-hand thread, but it will not either tighten or come loose.
Any fail-safe method for removing it ?
Thanks in advance

Re: Removing Steering Lock Module
So the bolt is free to spin but doesn't wind in or out? sounds like the thread is buggered, only thing I can suggest short of drilling the head off is to try and get a bit of upward pressure on it while you slowly turn it clockwise (as it's LH thread) and hope it starts to "bite" on a good bit of thread. Can you get a small screwdriver/bradawl or similar, maybe even a broken sliver of feeler gauge to wedge under the head to lever it upward as you unscrew?
Obviously I don't know the build-up on this at all but if possible you could maybe punch it upwards from the end of the thread. Hope someone can suggest something more definite though

Re: Removing Steering Lock Module
Hello to all.
Got it out - Grabbed it firmly with a mole-grips - kept a pull on it - and turned it slowly with a torx key.
Out it came.
The captive nut on the steering column had come free. Probably someone previously had a go - didn't know that it was lefthand thread and ended up tightening it until the nut parted from the flange on the column.
Thanks to all.
