Hi all. So I've checked and both wheels turn ok ish. One more than the other but both run when accelerator is pressed. My last concern is that when it's on the axle stands, running in 1st 2nd. I can physically stop the wheel with my hands.
So in a scenario where I would be in gear and creeping up a slight incline, I can't see how that would pull the car forward. And ideas?

That's just the diff doing its job, nothing to worry about. I don't think I'd want to make a habit of touching rotating wheels. Even if you've got the other wheel on the ground and it's not the diff (don't try this it's more dangerous) you could probably stall an engine with your hands. If you look at the torque produced at idle it's not even comparable to me with hand tools

Brilliant! Really thanks for the advice.
That's really good news. I've got the new hub. I've put on a link of what I have because at the top left of the picture, I have no bolt for it. Any idea what id search for to buy a new one?http://www.autoricambiservice.com/front ... p.52512.uw

Can you measure the old one? I've tried to find a parts lookup like Service Citroen for Renault but had no luck.

You need to look for hub and strut pinch bolt and nut

Maybe here: http://www.renaultpartsdirect.co.uk/pro ... -bolt-nut/

Hi everyone. I had a look and all seems fine. All I need to do now is remove the snapped bolts out the hub on the passenger side. I've tried two drills and went through loads of bits, but not making a dent in it. Would it be costly if I went to a garage for it you reckon?

If the hubs off I'd suggest taking it to a local engineer. It'll take a minute or two to sort on a mill or speed drill. Mechanic would be a good second bet especially if the hubs still attached to the car. I'd charge you about £10 to 20 if you brought me the hub at work .

Yeah the hub is still on the car. I'll get a look and see if I can find anyone local. They'll have to come out to me I think as I only have one good hole for a bolt. It's getting so frustrating now as I hardly have any time to get it sorted.

I wouldn't normally suggest this but you could try a hammer drill with a masonry bit on your stuck bolt, sometimes the hammer action combined with the tungsten tip will chop its way through a hardened bolt where a hs steel drill won't.

Is it the wheel bolts or the pinch bolt you are trying to get out at the moment?

Yeah it's the snapped wheelbolts. I have a hammer drill and a masonry bit somewhere. I was told by an unreliable source that a masonry bit wouldn't work. Worth a try though.

Try it in reverse - the vibration can shake it loose and let the drill unscrew it.
