1.4 HDI engine runs on after ignition key removed
This is on a 2005 1007. Engine runs on when ignition key is switched off (and removed). All runs as normal as do the electrics, once stalled the ignition & electrics is off. You can also kill the engine by unplugging the larger connector on the ignition switch.
I have tried 3 different ignition switches, changed the fuel filter, changed the BSM, tried another BSI set.
Nothing yet has solved the issue, anyone got any other ideas?
TIA.

Did you ever get it on Diagbox to undertake a proper diagnostic? There would surely be fault codes indicating the problem and surely this was done before replacing parts? Also generic scanners won't be any good - it does need Diagbox to properly diagnose it.

Does it eventually stop, or do you have to stall it?

Not sure what is supposed to kill the engine, there is no low pressure pump and I have found no reference to a cut off solenoid. Guessing a signal is sent to cut out the injectors but something is preventing it.

Could it be another dodgy fuse board causing cross feeds on the wiring?

Re: 1.4 HDI engine runs on after ignition key removed
I would of expected a P1192 fault code (Failure of the engine stop: The fuel continues to arrive in the rail) in this case, hence asking whether you used Diagbox specifically?
Suspected components would be: Fluid level, Engine fuse box, Connectors, Electrical harness, high pressure fuel pump, Engine management ECU (internal failure, supply, ...)

Re: 1.4 HDI engine runs on after ignition key removed
Or a P1114 (Failure of the engine stop: Cutting the injection was not enough to stop the engine)
Symptom: Engine stopped (Impossible)
Suspect Areas: Fluid level, Fuel injector

Running on sump oil?

Re: 1.4 HDI engine runs on after ignition key removed
Could you check that last one out by somehow cutting off the fuel supply?
Surely a stop solenoid somewhere*, or electronic equivalent?
Check to see whether electrical supply to the injectors remains live when IGN sw is turned off?
*pump diagram?

No it's not running on sump oil, like I said if you undo the ignition connector the engine cuts off ( no supply to ignition ECU)

Re: 1.4 HDI engine runs on after ignition key removed
Something must be powering the ECU after the ignition switch is off, just can't find what it is, unplugged radio, glowplug relay, fan relays, gearbox reverse switch and still not found it yet.
May just have to cheat and put a relay on one of the wires to the pump volume control valve to cut it out as when the connector is removed from it it kills the engine. (Will change this first though to see if that is faulty)

Re: 1.4 HDI engine runs on after ignition key removed
Assuming the IGN sw's are all ok (and of the right type), it might be worth checking the supplies that arrive at the IGN sw.FRANTIC FRANC wrote: ↑19 Oct 2018, 12:40 . . . You can also kill the engine by unplugging the larger connector on the ignition switch.
I have tried 3 different ignition switches . . .
From what you say, it's obviously possible for the sw to shut off the engine (by removing it), which suggests that one of the (three) sw's outputs is permanently live, instead of being key operated. They can't all have the same fault, so something is maintaining the (fuelling) output live.
