Catalytic converter heat shield???

Post by fudgee »

Hi there.
I have just removed the catalytic converter from my 56 plate Peugeot 207 1.4 and realised that the factory fitted heat shield is welded on.

The replacement cat I have purchased from euro car parts does not have a heat shield on it and you cannot purchase one from them either.
I have looked at countless other websites at their cats which fit my car and looking at the pictures it seems that none of them have a heat shield either.
When I Google search for one I just keep getting results for muffler shield's which sit underneath the car.
I can't find any information whatsoever for the cat con on my car which sits directly underneath the engine bay..
Do all new catalytic converters have built in Shields or just do not require them anymore?
I just don't understand.

Thanks in advance

Not sure about later cats coming with/without heat shields, but that one on your old box would be fairly easily cut off, and remounted on the replacement with a couple of very large jubilee clips (or a some linked together).

Since we lost some of the posts - I can't remember what I posted - but here are the images that I know I did post up to highlight the difference between the official one and the replacement for cars over 3 years old. The original had an exchange surcharge on it if I recall.

Here is the replacement one that seems not to have the grid on the original.
