Hello to all .

GOT IT :) :) :) :) :) :)

A 205 TD , 1.8 , 3 door in white. Year is 1995.

425 euros - and just like buses , they had another with a busted radiator for 150 euros.

Revs like a bugger. Camshaft clatters like it wants to come out the top at cold. Settles down then.

100km in 3rd no probs.

Jeez - its a bloomin rocket. 5 speed too.

Excellent! Delighted you have finally found one...

Just two more things...

Firstly, we need to see photos and secondly, enjoy every minute of it!

Hello again to all.

Photos tricky at the moment - always covered in road-mud.

On the subject of "Sticky Snot" (our 5 door 205) - we already have the wheels and tyres from a 1.9d Peugeot 306 fitted to it and then we fitted the vented front disks and the larger calipers - a straight swap and a great modification.

It brakes better and not as harshly as the original setup.

We cannot fit the whole 306 front chassis legs as the driveshafts are thicker on the wheel hub end.

On the 306 leg - we can seperate the hub from the leg complete with shock and springs - and fit these to the 205.

Any thoughts on that modification ?

Hello to all.

Today we fitted the 306 suspension legs to our 205. (basically the shocks and springs)
We retained the hub and brake carriers of the 205 but also had to retain the 205 top mounts as the 306 was different. This involved compressing the springs on 2 sets (2 x 205 and 2 x 306) to swap the bearings and mounts over. We hate this job as it is always seems dangerous to us - even though we have a very good FACOM spring compressor.

The car rides significantly higher. However, it mounts kerbs nicely which suits us for our work.

It goes up speed humps easily but comes down them with a bang !!!

Obviously the centre of gravity has changed and we are not sure if the car feels less "chuckable".

We do deliveries with this 205, 6 days a week. It leads a very hard life and has done 10000km since September.

We will test the mods to the suspension this week - though it appears to be a tad high and the Gendarme might notice it.

It now has a 306 injection pump + 306 vented disks and bigger calipers + 306 front shocks and springs + 306 wheels and larger tyres (175s)

None of this has cost us any money as we had the 306 parts lying around.

We have the disc brakes from the back of a xsara - so if we move to 14inch wheels we might have a go at that too.

Does that make it a "hybrid" ???

Jeepers Jim - we like that logic.

So if we fitted the rear discs what would it become ??

BTW, its between 5cm and 10cm higher that a a normal 205 now - which suits us perfectly.

10cm is a heck of a lot. Do you still have any suspension movement lifting the car up?

Yep , its loads higher. Will try a bounce test on it - although some of the extra height has come from fitting the bigger tyres.
