Help...Pug 307 1.6L "high fuel pressure"

Hi,
Please help, my 2007 Peugeot 307 1.6L diesel won’t run.
I’ve printed the associated error codes and they read as follows…
P1166 “Maximum rail pressure exceeded”
Associated variables:
o Engine speed: 0129 rpm
o Diesel pressure: 1757 Bar
o Diesel limited pressure 0322 Bar
o Pump output: 0 mm3/sec
o Diesel flow regulator voltage: 01000mV
P1633 “Fault inside ECU”
Associated variables:
o Engine speed: 0000 rpm
o Air flow voltage: 051 mV
o Inlet air temperature: 212 degrees Celsius
o Gross flow injected: 000 mg/stroke
o Status of engine: Initialisation
Any suggestions would be very much appreciated.

Welcome, Jon!

Something odd going on there... it looks like the fuel pressure sensor is reading full scale at cranking speed. Now that might be a fault with the rail pressure sensor, or it might be a fault with some other sensor that uses the 5V signal line causing the signal to be haywire (given that the air temp also appears to be reading top scale), or it could be the ECU itself. If you could find a pin out for the MAF sensor you could try measuring the voltage there. Unfortunately the rail pressure sensor is well buried down the back of the engine, so getting to that is not going to be easy! Post up the VIN and I'll see if I can find any wiring diagrams for similar cars.

Agree there's something not right with those readings, perhaps a quick & dirty check would be to disconnect the MAF and see if the engine now starts. I say this as I just read of an instance where a faulty MAF/IAT sensor were causing a non-start (and associated blown 20A fuse)

Hi Richard and ekjdm14,

Thanks for the help so far.

Here is the next installment...
I took out the ECU and put it back in, initially no change. Then after a few goes it started and ran for 3 seconds, then stalled. So I tried again, and accelerated. It ran above 2000 revs, but stalled when I went lower. I let it warm up and found it would then idle (though has pinging sound). I plugged into the computer and same errors.

I unplugged the MAF (no change), measured the voltages whilst I was there, there was 5.03V on one of the pins.

Richard, the VIN is VF3**************[VIN obfuscated, can be read by forum staff].
