Does anyone know what the clutch pedal switch is for?
I can understand why it would be required on a stop/start system or a vehicle where you have to depress the clutch pedal before starting. My car has neither.
I noticed the other day while graphing live data, when the clutch is depressed the timing is retarded by around 20 degrees taking it into the negative side.

Re: Clutch Pedal Switch
I can think of another function it could perform - to disengage cruise control.
Interesting about the timing retardation. That would make it easier to spin the engine over.

Re: Clutch Pedal Switch
It is also used for vehicles with Electronic Handbrakes with manual gearboxes to ascertain when the clutch is engaged for 'hill start assist', or for releasing the handbrake by pressing the accelerator pedal and simultaneous rising of the clutch pedal in the case of a manual gearbox.

Yes I believe it is also used for cruise control which I don't have either. I can't think why it would retard the ignition so much at idle. As long as the pedal is depressed the timing remains retarded. Interestingly it does not seem to affect the idle much if at all. It's that hard to tell if there is a difference.

Ah yes. Reminds me of being stuck at an Airport barrier driving my friend's newish golf after dropping him off for his flight. I had no idea the clutch had to be depressed to disengage the electronic parking brake. Took me an eternity to figure it..

Re: Clutch Pedal Switch
Usually the foot needs to be on the brake pedal to disengage the parking brake when the car is in neutral, But starting off in traffic by just accelerating and depressing the clutch pedal will also release it. They are all slightly different though.

Re: Clutch Pedal Switch
I found this in a Citroen technical training document circa 2000..
XXVI - CRUISE CONTROL CLUTCH SAFETY SWITCH (ME7.4.4) This switch is located on the clutch pedal. It informs the ECU using +12 V, when the driver presses the clutch pedal. The ECU uses this information to deactivate the cruise control function and to adjust the engine torque to the gear change.
