The U1218 fault can relate to an intersystems CAN fault in relation to the STOP Start system if you have this fitted.

First post your VIN up here so I can identify your vehicle.

That won’t help, I need the VIN to determine fault codes as they relate to your vehicle as they are different depending on variant.

The VIN is also known as the body number or chassis number or frame number. You can see it stamped on the bodyshell through the windscreen in a small window on the lower left hand corner. It will start V F 7 and is 17 characters long I think.

If you have the same registration document as used in the EU it is item 'E' in vehicle details.

Şaşe no:VF7**************[VIN obfuscated, can be read by forum staff]

my friend auto repair shop.device connected with obd cable.engine fault lamp illuminates and service writes.
I got the car 1 month ago. I did not notice the fault when I got my question marks.
I'm very lucky to have burned the light one day after purchasing :).
I want to share the error codes with you, I hope our problem is solved with your help

1=P1499-air mixer.Position faulty (too closed)
2=P0487-air mixer.Position faulty (too light)

When I clear these two fault codes and start my vehicle, the engine fault light is not lit.

u1218 continues to code error.absolutely not deleted with the device

thank you all for your help in advance

You have can communication issue, check wiring from bsi to ecu, can lines are two twisted wires. Check for continuity, and inspect visually, I'm sure you'll find your issue.

Ok, so you have the Delphi Injection ECU. Here are the fault descriptors as they relate to this engine ECU:

P1499 - Air mixer: Position incorrect (Open too far). The position measured is greater than the reference value by more than 35 % for 5 seconds.
Conditions of disappearance of the fault: Driving for 5 minutes remaining under an engine speed of 2500 rpm at half load (Engine hot).
Symptoms: Engine stop downgraded / Noise
Suspect areas: Air mixer, Air doseur electrovalve, Position repeat, Vacuum circuit, Electrical harnesses.

P0487 - Air mixer: Position incorrect (Open too far) The position measured is greater than the reference by more than 50 % for 6 seconds.
Conditions of disappearance of the fault: Driving for 5 minutes remaining under an engine speed of 2500 rpm at half load.
Switching on of the warning lamp and/or warning message: Warning lamp MIL
Symptoms: Engine stop downgraded / Noise
Suspect areas: Air mixer, Air doseur electrovalve, Position repeat, Vacuum circuit, Electrical harnesses

U1218 - Intersystem CAN network: One of the parameters present in a frame emitted by the BSI is invalid Communication fault between ECUs detected for 3 secs.
Downgrade Modes: Reversible deactivation of the vehicle cruise control, Reversible deactivation of the vehicle speed limiter, Deactivation of the air conditioning, Inhibiting of the exhaust heat recovery function.
Switching on of the warning lamp and/or warning message: Warning lamp MIL
Symptoms: Engine hesitating, cutting out, Lack of power, Starting problem
Suspect areas:Engine ECU

If you now have only that "U" code start by checking can wiring under the hood. Probably are wires damaged. "U" codes are can comunication issue codes.

Those two "P" codes could well be the reknowned double air doser sticking. It contains two motor-driven throttles - one is EGR throttle (normally closed) the other is the air heater.
Disconnect it (a couple of bolts and three air pipes) for access and try to move the (normally open) butterfly by hand. It should move smoothly from open to closed and flick back open under spring pressure. You can also use Lexia Actuator test to operate it electrically and observe the movement. Again, it should close and open smoothly. If it shows any sign of sticking, or not moving at all the whole unit (air doser) needs to be replaced.
