There seems to be some confusion as to where the genuine system sources the 12V to power the trailer lights. Can we clarify that?

I can't remember and all my paperwork is back in the UK. If no-one has come up with the answer I'll search it out when I get back next weekend.

I would think it is the Red wire, number 13 on the table I put up. Paul will no doubt confirm as Citroen fitting instructions are pictorial only.

I'm afraid that there is a mix up, Marc. on the table - no.13 is the "ground" or the minus wire. I think that you've meant no. 9 that is red and marked with a "+" sign. but as I've mentioned earlier, I think the the red wire is too thin for the required load. looking at the unit that you've also attached it's picture, enables to see that there are two 15A fuses on the unit. I think that these fuses are to protect the +12V line to the trailer bulbs. one can also see that there are two single connectors on it, which I guess are to connect the supply +12V from the vehicle. I think that we all have to wait to see what will Paul tell us.
btw - I've called one of the Citroen service centers regarding the BSR. the man that I spoke to, never heard about it but he told me that he will check it up and return to me with an answer.

I think you’re forgetting that all the lights are supplied by the independent wires that go into the plug into the BSR. The additional red wire number nine on the diagram, is probably to supply power to the trailer itself possibly for electrical items like a fridge.

Marc, if we are referring to the same loom - the one that ends with the 18 pin rectangular plug - I strongly believe that the wires are not capable of delivering such amount of current, especially a fridge that consumes a lot of power. the cross section of these wires would not be able to do it.
another option is that I'm missing what you're referring to. I think that the data that Paul will provide, will clear all the misunderstandings.
I've got a call this morning from the Citroen service center that I've turned to yesterday asking about the BSR. I was told that they (nor any other service center in Israel has it on stock. they can order it for me from Citroen and the cost of it will equal about GBP 160. I was told that they don't stock it since the local tow bar workshop don't use them because of the price of it. they rather use a third party relay bypass unit (that of course dosn't connects with the vehicle's ECU with all the advantages coming with it, but it's only enables the functioning of the trailer lights. the reason is that the bypass unit cost's is about GBP 20 and people are deterred from the high price. along with that, you have to take into consideration the regulations here in Israel regarding towing, for example, one isn't allowed to tow with a passenger vehicle a caravan, trailer without brakes - max 500kg. with brakes - 750kg. and so on. so, I guess that's the reason that people aren't demanding the original BSR.
I hope that I didn't stretched too much the patience of the readers.

I understand what you are saying, but fridges for caravans are designed to use 12 V supplies and to keep it operating whilst travelling. Normally when pitched you would connect to the mains,

There aren’t any other wires to the BSR that I can find, but I do know there is an additional loom that you can buy for additional equipment as an extra.

Then maybe that is the missing part of the puzzle, because as I understand, the BSR is also an optional, not as a standard equipment and maybe that this additional loom is for that.

No the BSR is for normal towing and is not standard kit Avi. An additional loom is supplied optionally for the use of separate equipment. I will put a picture up shortly.

So I've now found out that this loom (1609732180) is the additional loom for supplying power to equipment like a fridge. It is optional equipment as not everyone nmeeds this.

I'm not sure what the extra loom would be for as the BSR kit includes a 13 pin socket which services all requirements. I really must find the paperwork when I get back!

Although it has to be said that the bypass solution is looking more attractive given the local regulations.

The additional loom is actually wired into the fusebox directly Paul - and in addition requires the removal of the existing fuse plate and replacing it with a 40A one. Taken from the product description:
This harness takes account of the features of the vehicle, thus ensuring safety, reliability and simplicity of fitting.
Simple connection using the interface connectors identical to those for the vehicle.
This harness provides power for a caravan refrigerator.

Ah, that answers the basic question regarding high current consumption devices. The 13 pin socket includes several sockets with +12v for different applications. I often wondered why and this answers that one.
