It didn't last :-S the suspension today when unlocking went up a touch but when we got in it it sank. It then would not stay up for any of the driving we did with it slowly lowering while in use with it at one point dangerously low on one of the local dual carriageways.

Tomorrow I will source a. Gen 2 intel core laptop (haswell I think) as that supports XP and install it on that.

I am surprised they didn't use Linux or Unix for this product, it would have likely been better on that OS.

I wish they had and I would get a Diagbox/Lexia.
Not touching Microsoft stuff though.

Hope you get some resolution on the sinking. I'm inclined to suspect a malfunctioning electrovalve but that is just guesswork.

Windows is pretty universal so they would only release and support that OS - certainly as most of the hardware was (and stilll is) shipped with a MS OS. I think PSA software itself leaves a lot to be desired though - not exactly a shining example.

Based on what I am seeing and only understanding up to HA2+activa this looks like the accumulator is empty / depressurised and the system doesn't know that. its opening the valve to add pressure but actually releasing some. this is based on 3 observations:
1 the car is often fine (for about an hour) if set to mid high and then lowered again pre drive.
2 the car is always fine (indefinite amount of time) if set from full down to full height then to normal pre drive.
3 the car raised to level when I unlocked it the other day (only seems to be doing that since the play with the rear up down switches), when i got in the car dropped as it does for someone heavy, when it tried to level, it instead dropped the back and stayed there (somewhere between low and normal) it then took the pump a minute to bring the car from where it was to mid-height after i selected mid-height so I'd assume that there was no pressure remaining in the loop.

Now the system i know isn't as advanced as the ha3 but if it had have been an activa id be saying replace the accumulator and recon the pump.

Won't be the pump. It's an electro hydraulic pump that is obviously working or it would of blown a fuse if it was struggling. Did you manage to get a working laptop with Diagbox as yet Andy?

There are actuator tests you can perform to see what is going on with the electrovalves, so that has top be a first step really.

Just finished building a gen 2 Sandy bridge cpu with the exact same failure. I've tried:
gen 2 Sandy bridge - i3
gen 3 ivy bridge - i3
gen 4 Haswell - i3 / i5 /i7
gen 6 Skylake - i5

all with win 7 x86 (32bit) none of them work they all have the same fault when coming to license them. Time taken so far 4 days.

I have an XP image which i will try tonight but i have to go back to the Ivy bridge as the Sandy isn't compatible with xp! after that i either try and power up my HP TC1100 (2004 windows tablets with a 1ghz celeron) which i haven't used in a decade or look for a working core2 or Pentium 4 based CPU laptop off ebay (or possibly in my roof - if i am never heard of again that may be why).

ill see if i can do the ivy bridge tonight on xp and update.

8" even?

3.5 had totally forgotten that usb support was introduced after XP. Unfortunately both laptops needed f6 drivers loaded for the storage arrays.

I often look at modem tech and think. 720kb disk drives were cutting edge when I started, I still have a 20mb SCSI HDD somewhere out of my Amiga 1500 which cost me about £700!

Today was a surprising trip down memory lane. It's interesting seeings a quad thread "modern" (6year old) laptop load windows in about 6 second and use a whopping 150mb of its 4gb of ram... I just hope that now I can load the diagbox software, after that I am using an optiplex 755 with a long usb cable and parking the car on the lawn...

More than anything data transfer rates are immense now, my PC's SSD has a 3300MB/s transfer rate and my one server has a 144tb storage array 512gb ram, 40 threads and is already 2 years old! I've recently said to others that not much has changed in the last 10 years, in reality its more that the os's are now so heavy you can't tell how things have moved on.
