Citroen Dispatch.

Post by wonderdispatch1 »

Hi,

I was wondering if anyone could could help me.

I started my dispatch van diesel 2011 L2h1 a few weeks back & everything seemed fine, it was raining so I had my windscreen wipers on. I drove it for approx 4mins & the rain had stopped, so i turned my windscreen wipers off. However they did not turn off. No matter what I did with the windscreen lever they were still on. I stopped & turned my engine off to re-start, but then the engine would not start. Strangely the windscreen wipers where STILL going!!!! No engine was on & the key was in my hand. I very quickly realised that my front head lights & side lights where also on.

The RAC man managed to get the engine going, I have no issues on the engine front since. However I have to disconnect the battery every time as the front head lights & side lights still do not turn off, no matter what I do. I have now discovered that I can turn the windscreen wipers on/off by turning the light lever on/off (yes you read that right).

Since then I have come to notice that the airbag has deactivated & the fan bower does not work.

Has anyone ever had this issue with either a dispatch or a Citroen in general? Or can anyone suggest actions to be taken to rectify it?

Thanks
A

My first thought are with the comms unit (the control module in the steering wheel) that is responsible for controlling the headlights, indicators side lamps, and wipers etc. it is the module that all the stalks fit into. This unit communicates with the main BSI control unit, but when these fail, the headlights and wipers can play up, coming on intermittently and switching off unexpectedly.

However, now that you have mentioned the airbag and heater controls, I am leaning more towards either the BSI or the engine fuse box.

I think I would first pull out the under bonnet fusebox to check for signs of water ingress.
Is the cover fitted on securely & correctly?
