HDI into non HDI
I have a year 2000 Picasso non HDI that is slowly giving up the ghost. I also Have a Xantia 2000 HDI with an engine that has only done 100,000 miles and is in perfect condition. Is there a way I can drop the HDI engine into my Picasso

Mechanically it shouldn't be to much of a problem but unless you are well versed in electronics I would give it a miss.

Re: HDI into non HDI
I presume your Picasso is a petrol because As far as I'm aware, they never made a non-HDI diesel Picasso. It started off with the 1.6 and 1.8 petrols, and the 90BHP 2.0HDi. There was never a old fashioned diesel version.
It would be *far*, *far* easier to buy a decent Xsara Picasso HDI, cheaper, and much better for your mental state. You'll have to change *every* last bit of wiring, BSI, ECUs and more..

Yes, correct Mike - no non-HDI Diesels on the Xsara Picasso. I would also have to agree with the above, as it is not just the electronics that need to be compatible, but other major components that won't be compatible.

I had a shonky old Xantia HDi 110 some years ago, and a lovely Xantia Activa, which was mint, I used it every day, but it was thirsty as hell. I know they made and Activa HDi, and I think with a remap on the 110 motor, it would make a lovely car. I therefore looked into doing an engine swap between the two, and it would have been an utter nightmare to do.
