1975 Citroen GS fuel gauge
Any one got a picture of the rear of the dash board wired up, my fuel gauge is always reading full and when I turn the head lights on it goes to empty. There seems to be a spade connector that has nothing on it and I can't find a loose wire. I have the dash with the tumbler speedo.

Hi Tony
I don't have a pic, but that sounds very like a missing earth wire.
Do you have access to a volt meter?

Hi, tried earthing it but it seemed live. I’ll try and get a pic.
Re: 1975 Citroen GS fuel gauge
I have a workshop manual for the GS (probably Haynes, but might be Autodata), but I can't find it.
Suspect it might be in a box of books, somewhere in a lockup storage unit.
Maybe somebody could post up a diagram of the instrument panel wiring, so we can check it.
Conventional analogue instruments need a regulated +12v, a ground and a sense connection.
There are a few that only have the +12v and the sense, with ground provided through the sender.
If we could see the diagram we could figure out which Citroen used in the GS.
Don't randomly ground things, because they're unlikely to be adequately fused, particularly on anything French, so something else will go pop.
That will most likely be the instrument panel voltage regulator, but could be the circuit board, or even the wiring loom.
Anyone have a diagram?

Hmm.
We're not going to get killed in the rush, are we?
I'll try to find the appropriate box of books and dig out my manual.
I haven't seen it, consciously, for years. It's at least 20 years since I saw a GS in the flesh.
Still have nightmares about the starters on those...

Here you go!
Apologies for the skew - my scanner's in an awkward position at the moment.
Not the most useful of diagrams, but it might help.

I have a LHD gs van with the Tumbler speedo and printed circuit board dash. I have attached a pic of the connector that maybe missing.

Hi
Not sure whether that helps or not.
Do you have the legend for it?
The numbers don't mean anything to me, I'm afraid
