New model 2016 Spacetourer/Dispatch iTPMS or dTPMS ?

Post by Pesmogc »

I have a new Spacetourer on order (Essentially a Dispatch with windows and seats). I have always fitted winter tyres to one of my vehicles to keep mobile in the worst of weather up North. I am worried about the increased faff of fitting winter rubber now that my new vehicle will have Tyre Pressure Monitoring as standard. 8-[

Does anyone know if the 2016 onwards Dispatch/Spacetourer uses dTPMS with pressure sensors in the valves, or iTPMS where it simply computes the estimated pressures using wheel rotational differences via the ECU ?

If it is iTPMS the problem will go away and I can just order a second set of wheels and tyres and not have to worry about the sensors. But if it is dTPMS I may simply fit winter tyres on one of my other older cars to avoid the hassle and significant extra cost of buying and getting them coded to the ECU. Plenty of threads on here suggest that dTPMS can be troublesome.

If nobody knows I will go and trouble my dealer, but I have already found they are generally unenthusiastic looking up tech details unless you have a reg. number, which I don't yet have. [-X I obtained a copy of the owners manual and it doesn't help either.

Does anyone know ?

Given that our 2013 C5 is dTPMS (never heard that term before) and our 2015 308 is iTPMS I would wager a whole £1 that it's iTPMS.

I did find a web site a month or two ago with this sort of information on. I'll try to find it again.

When you do get the vehicle, if there's an option in the menu to reinitialise the TPMS when you have pumped the tyres up then it's iTPMS. Our 308 has this.
