I assume that this is the fuel pump on the berlingo then. And I also assume that given the fact that Lucas is embossed into that black electrical connection means veggie oil is a no no for it.Image

Veg oil is generally cheaper than pump diesel but does it have the same, or similar, calorific value? What difference, if any, is there in the MPG comparing the two fuels?
My TD Xantia and XM were more economical and smoother running on straight veg oil 100% mix.

It is actually more polluting than pump diesel, both for NOx and particulates though.

I thought the smoother running on veggie which is often mentioned was down to improved lubrication BUT, heyho, what do I know?

P'raps the reason I've got away with it - IF I've got a Lucas pump, is because, generally, I only use a 1:2 blend. I was told this years ago, & that 50:50 will work, BUT it'll smell like a chippy.

No money saving veggie for me then. Which is ok, its only going to be used for work anyway and wont be any more expensive to fuel than bigpug or lilpug.

If it's as good as Gabriel then you'll get well north of 50 mpg if you drive it with some care Davie...

They're not Jim. Better than 40mpg would be considered good for one of these in a Berlingo van. I suspect gearing and
aero has a lot to do with it.

I doubt if I will ever actually work it out. I put in 30 quid at inverurie when I picked it up, its 38 miles home from there, and it did 120 miles for its two evenings work so thats 158 miles and its still at 1/4 tank when the guage wasnt even moving when I put the diesel in, if it does say 250 miles on 30 quid that will do for me.

Reminds me, meant to have a poke about under the bonnet before it got dark - oh well, there's always tomorrow.

Life's too short to drive so slowly so as to achieve Economy Run mpg figures! :)

Driving slowly is my default. Stress-free and gives you a chance to observe lots and arrive at your destination in a good frazzle-free state, content and happy.

Or, at least that's how it works for me. Economy is a side benefit...

I don't do fast...

"Goin' down the road at too many miles an hour" That's one of my faults, obviously having been unduly influenced by Status Quo at an impressionable age!

The level of concentration helps keep me awake but, yes, I do miss a lot but arrive in a similar state as you (probably still high on adrenaline!).

Fortunately, as in all things, we aren't all the same.

That's why I run and cycle.. Gives a great Endorphin high... It's called 'runner's high' and that's exactly what it is...

Absolutely right! It would be very tedious indeed if we were...

There'd never be enough Xantias to go round for one thing...

Yes! ME too, seen them 10 times now..

For me, it depends. Empty road - go fast. Heavy traffic, hide with the lorries in the inside lane, and let everyone else get wound up by the madness.
