Mine is more like your 4th picture.....
Okay thats very informative your diagrams.. thank you.

Do i need to replace "mixing flap" "No 3" in the diagram do you think?
Air temperature remains cold at present, Also i presumme the air distribution "No 2" is fine as the cold air can be put to the window,or floor or both places....

Are they the same sort of motor....could i swap them just to make sure thats my problem....or am i away off here :? :? :?

Yes, yours is the last picture - I've looked it up from your VIN, which is why I needed to confirm the exact system.
Regarding which one to replace: It should be a process of elimination. Regardless of temperature, if you can adjust the the passenger side air distribution by pressing the passengers air distribution button, and then confirm with each press that the blown air direction changes according to the setting shown on the display (bear in mind it can take a few seconds for the motors to adjust), then you can assume that the distribution motor is doing its job.

If the temperature does not change as you've indicated, then this would indicate it is the mixer flap motor on the left that is not working and is the one to be replaced. You must make sure you align the spindle correctly when replacing the unit - it has a flat part on the spindle, so needs to align before forcing it on. The part number is 6447 RJ for item 2 (it should be the same part number for part 3 as there are no separate parts listed). They share the same part with Peugeot 407 and the wider part number is 4PUH19E616AB.

Here's one I found:

You must confirm whether it is the mixer flap itself that is broken or the motor, you don't want to order a motor for nothing! Watch this video for a bit more info on it:

It seems a bit butchery but there's no easy way of doing this fix. And the 407/C5 system is very similar.

Edit - Also, you can buy replacement flaps off ebay, but they're expensive. And nothing stops them failing again in my opinion, so when I do this repair I will do the araldite method as in the video above, as that will be stronger than when new.

I'd imagine if you removed the motor but left it electrically connected, you could see if it moves when you alter the temperature?

A good point on the flap itself Dommo. Always worth a check.

The noise will be the rear arm bearings being worn out...

I had a rattling from the rear that was commonly diagnosed as the trailing arm bearings. I was sceptical as it wasn't the usual cracking noise over speed bumps.
Asked the mechanic to give it a good coat of looking at when it was in for the MOT, which both he and the MOT tester did and they could find no fault with the bearings.
Turned out to be one of the brake pads clattering around, no anti-rattle springs present.
New pads and springs sorted that out quickly and cheaply.

As the owner of 2 mark 2 C5s, I can confirm that the dual zone heater box is the same as the 407 - the motors tend to be fairly reliable and the heater and distribution are the same. Usually the heater flaps fracture and I found it far easier to remove the steering column, dash, and strip the heater unit on a bench. It all unbolts easily. I did this for Car Mechanics magazine, so there's a full step by step in there - just pay a few quid for a back issue.

Hi, Do you reckon i would be fit to do a fix like this myself? Could you provide a link to this job being carried on out on a car. I'd consider my self okay at repairs so i'd have no problem in taking on with the job....Just looking for a guide
Please and thanks!
