Thanks Marc, I hadn't seen that post as it was under an unrelated topic. Glad I asked as it seems to be important to get the oil right. Confusing when some major oil companies are advertising their oil as compatible.

I believe the reason they don't want you putting the thicker JWS3309 into the newer generation AM6 boxes is emissions regulation. The older, thicker oil must badly affect the emissions profile of the vehicle. From a technical point of view though (viscosity and viscosity index) both appear to be fine.

Thanks Marc, I knew I had seen it somewhere!!!
I answered the post on my mobile while away from my info as i did not want him to use the wrong oil.

You never have too much of the right information.

I took all Marc's warnings to heart and have found a suitable oil for the Euro 5 cars needing Aw-1 spec oil.

It's Total Fluidmatic MVLV fully synthetic.
AW-1 or JWS 3324 (not 3309)
Data sheet states the lower viscosity of 6 @100 that Mark described.

It's 40 Aud plus gst here in Australia for 4 litres.

I have just changed my flushed through another 7 litres of oil in my AM6 (AW-1) auto gearbox and would like to pass on some more information.

When I was undoing the Oil Level plug the torqx bit slipped and rounded off, now I know it was not over tightened as I done it up 2 years ago with the same tool. I ended up undoing it with a small sharp chisel, tapping it round. I then filed it so an 11mm socket would do it up, I was not happy to drive the car as I was not sure about the seal . First call was to Citroen, "Yes, I can get you a new one, but not until Tuesday". Then I thought, from information on FCF that Vauxhall use the same auto-box, so I ordered two new plugs for the next day, identified by the part number of a seal from another posting viewtopic.php?f=3&t=58134&start=15. These arrived as promised but were too small. So my car was off the road for a week while Citroen got my new parts(s). I bought two plugs as I don't want my car off the road next time due to a failed part costing £0.96p
The process for doing the flush tells you to remove the Airbox and disconnect the battery, to gain access to the filler plug and each time you restart the car you have to put it back, not difficult but it takes time. two flushes means you remove the Airbox three times.
Now, I was faced with replacing the level plug today and found you don't need to remove the Airbox or disconnect the battery. you an get the Torqx driver onto the filler from on top and using a tube and funnel can top up the oil from there as well, see photos.

So Vauxhall/Saab parts are different and when buying the seals, buy a level plug at the same time.
