New member, existing forum car

A forum for new members to introduce themselves to the rabble already onboard. Not compulsory!
Tell us a little about yourself, lie if you have to but keep it to just an introduction, not a car discussion.

Hi all. I've just picked up my new (to me) C5 X7 Touring from a member on here. I'm only on day 2 of ownership and I'm already loving it.

I've picked up the car as my ageing dogs are struggling to get in and out of my Land Cruiser. There was no way the Cruiser was going so I picked up the C5 as an additional car.

There's no doubt I'll be picking your brains on here as I like to do as much of my own vehicle work as possible.

I think the first items that I'll be looking at is the front height sensor adjustment, and also if there's a recommended tuning box for the 2.0 (138).

Sorry, I have to ask... What are you planning to tune for, exactly?
Compared to the Land Cruiser, the 2.0 HDI must be like a rocket and also an absolute miser on fuel.
I know the estate body is a little heavier, which may take the whiplash danger out, a bit, but it's a sprightly engine with a good broad power band, so unless you want to plaster the dogs against the tailgate in the traffic light grand-prix, I'm astonished you feel any need to tune it... unless of course, there's something wrong with it...

Just to squeeze a few more MPG out of it really. It's only a thought at the moment. Happy to take guidance from those of more experience on here.

IMO no need to tune anything, it’s a perfectly capable engine with plenty of power. Tuning ‘boxes’ are pretty much useless; but if getting a tuned remap and you have a manual be prepared for extra clutch and DMF wear.

It's an auto.

I'll defer to your expertise, thank you. :wave1:

Plus it will keep your insurance premium down too.... as will no doubt increase that with a +35 BHP increase typical of a remap...

Ok, I don't want to shoot you down.
I'm sure there are gains to be made, in both outright power and in economy, but I do have misgivings about messing with what is a very well sorted, virtually unbreakable setup, particularly in that car. I think the costs would outweigh the benefit, probably by a good margin, while introducing another level of complexity in what is already a massively over complex car.
Even without any additional bhp, tuned purely for mpg, it's still a modified car and would have to be declared as such, to your insurers.
Personally, I'd leave it alone and enjoy it as it is, while its working.
If you browse the forum you'll find plenty of things you'd be better saving for, like steering racks, wiper motors and such.
Let us know what you do and keep us posted as you settle into ownership.
If your experience is anything like mine, you're embarking on a relationship, rather than simply owning it

Only just got around to reading this, sorry for the late entry!
My wife and I have different hobbies, I like Citroens, she likes dogs. The result is what she regards as a fair compromise, I'm allowed to have 2 Citroens, she can have as many dogs as she likes.
Currently she has 31. To cope we have an Isuzu Grand Adventure, known as The Dog Ambulance. As a dog owner yourself you'll understand why.
Welcome to the forum, I've found lots of friendly people and good advice here!
