I must admit I do wonder about the need for these special brake pads on road cars, I can't think of one occasion since I stopped driving SD1 Rovers that such upgrades have been necessary, who puts greater demands on brakes than an emergency car operating in central London?

Greenstuff are good but red ones need too much heat before they do any stopping and therefore crap for most situations, the ultimax are great, no good for track use but perfect for road use, almost no dust off them too which is nice.

I once did this to a set of greenstuff pads, anything else and they would have faded completely, but these kept on powering through!

This was a couple of minutes after stopping, they were much brighter when I first stopped and were on fire for good measure.

I've seen too many EBC pads seperate the friction material from the backing, and good spec OE pads are more than ample on the road no matter what car it is.

I always found my S2 Activa brakes very strong, the S1 were good too with Brembos, there just seems to be a mentaility that because everyone has red stuff pads, they must be good, personally i think they are over-rated, i had them on my Maestro and it killed the discs very quickly.

My biggest gripe about PSA pads has been the soot! Short life is something I can sort of live with...

That's got to be worth a punt... Looks like the alloys are a bit rough though. Almost looks as if they have lumps out of them...

It's worth that for breaking as going by the current scrap prices, it'd weigh in for near £200 on it's own...

It has the tired look about it. The missing lumps in the wheels is probably where wheel weights are or have been.

Activa Alert! Just spotted this one on eBay:

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Citroen-Xanti ... 43b1fa98ff" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

Not actually that far from us, however lack of MOT and been off the road since February 2009 does go against it as it's so easy to spend a pretty sum on Activa's...

Nice combo' of Silver with Black Leather (and Winter Pack) so could be a cheap car for someone, and nice enough miles at 91K too...

I'd rather have Dean's though... :wink:
