Re: Picture(s) of the day..
My picture of the day represents a minor victory this being the end product.
It represents a typical bit of home spannering. Its a simple job. Slide back the rubber gaiter after removing clips, apply a 22mm spanner to the flats on the inboard joint and unscrew the rod from the rack-end.
Yes I even had the 22mm spanner! but guess what...it was too long to get any undoing action going on those flats either from the top or from underneath...not such a simple job now. Take the rack off? angle grind the rod off and try and get a large socket over the bulbous bit after a bit of grinding heating and hammering?
No surely not. Try mole grips. Useless, not enough leverage in the small space. Had I had a pipe wrench the same would have applied.
Sorted it out though....just a touch of satisfying creativity and well worthy of this entry on the
Toolbag Tales-Homemade and improvised tools thread.
Regards Neil

I know that 'Minor Victory' feeling Neil.... and while it doesn't look much to those who choose to pay someone else for their spannering, those of us with the Cuts, Bruises, Sweat and extensive Vocabulary of four letter words to make these occasions more bearable; empathise.
Well done that man

Re: Picture(s) of the day..
that 205 van's in lovely nick innit, save for no doubt just a small mark here & there (minor issue with the front OSF wing); becoming rare, specially in van form.
This will be familiar to some, a rather clever Motorcycle sculpture near Calne. An idea of its enormous scale is provided by a glimpse of what is probably a modern white Fiesta passing, close to the exhaust.

well found Neil, that was probably quite a long Safari; you'll have discovered that its in the Calne area rather than in Calne itself.

Geograph is one of my go to sites.
The project has photos submitted for every kilometre square in the UK, and if there is anything interesting in that square kilometre someone will have submitted a picture for it. All under Creative Commons licence too.
Geograph always has a nice image of the day....today’s could have been put in What do you know about Wales, or Notices What have you spotted, but POTD is as good as any. Click image for bigger pic.

First of the Month?
Are the faithful of the FCF going to let the first of the month come and go without a POTD?
Really...anything will do as my input will shortly prove
Go on, give it a go!
