Been to a bus museum by any chance Neil?

That looks to me like a bus engine...

Unless it's a DMU power unit...

In its glory, or maybe shabby chic but it did have its hubometer on the front wheel.

...POTD link for 50001

The BR Locomotive which formerly bore that number was a Class 50 Diesel and the series was named after Royal Navy Vessels.

Here's 50001 at the scrapyard at Rotherham in 2002

Her Nameplate was Dreadnought probably most associated with this

Sad to see a Class 50 in such a state at Rotherham... They were nicknamed 'Hoovers' on account of the noise they originally made!

Lovely locomotives. Back in the 70s and 80s I frequently travelled between Waterloo and Yeovil Junction behind them...

Not a brilliant example of the "hoover" noise, but I do credit the videomaker with being bothered to film a couple of class 50's as they pass by the "Hoover" sign on the factory :-D

That sort of thing always gets points from me :-D ...but where is it?

...I'll answer my own question it is briefly up on the screen!

That's presumably an excursion Swindon to Fort William, and its passing the Hoover Factory at Cambuslang.

While browsing some properties for sale in SW France, came across this rustic creation...

From your rustic bandsaw to Pedally Steve!

If you are ever in York seek out Pedally Steve. Excellent value, cuts out any name you want with his pedal powered saw :-D

I think I know Neil... A lovely Art Deco building that's been preserved I believe, even though Hoovers are no longer made there...

You might say the road it's on has a link to a certain line of 50s and 60s Austin cars... Some named after English Counties and one I was born in... Not an Austin car but the county ;)

This is the one you are thinking of Jim (by the side of the A40 Perivale West London), but the one in the video is in Cambuslang Near Glasgow, Scotland

Wiki's great....Elvis Costello apparently did a song called "Hoover Factory" if I can find it it will be up on the Pickled Egg Jukebox even if its rubbish! :-D

Unless it has recently changed ownership that building is now a Tesco supermarket.

Unusual for Tesco to be a bit like that.. Our nearest big Tesco in Wolverton is built on part of the old Wolverton Railways Works site and the building was designed and built in such a way as to seamlessly blend into the Victorian style of the existing works buildings... It looks good...

Lidl have just started building on another part of the site and totally against what Tesco did they are chucking up one of their standard supermarket 'tin sheds'

It's, as Bonny Prince Charlie-boy might say, a carbuncle...
