That's one lovely P6 :)

Not only an NSU Quickly but a Yamaha FS1E too!!! The former I had and the latter I badly lusted after when I was 16

The Quickly is not quite as valuable as I thought they might be by now...

Minors, MGB's even the odd Stag are almost common around Torbay but on Saturday I was surprised to see a Scimitar 6E, which I assume to be a local car but not one I've seen before.

Nearly bought a Fizz, when you were 16 it was one of them or an AP, it had to have pedals (that didn't work) I waited and got an RS100 at 17, the Fizz was normally yellow though?

I recall them being well used by rural forces... Common sight in rural Somerset when I was a lad...

Agreed, the logical successor to the original Minors, although I always liked the fawn & yellow A35 vans the polis used (a long way) north of the border, BUT, I don't remember the Met using them.

Not many Xantias still around - much less those that are still towing caravans. This one has parked up next to me on a site in Burgos, Spain. It's a V6.

I've been in Spain for the better part of a week now and I've seen other Xantias about. Also several Xsaras, some of them looking pristine. Elderly cars obviously have much more value here than in UK.

They're certainly cheaper here than most, if not all, European countries - except, possibly, Germany [where they really don't like old cars, until they realise they're "classics" - & then have to (re)import them.]

Jim, droll, trés droll!

Used cars in Spain fetch ludicrously high prices, especially those around 10 years old. Compared to UK secondhand, you can multiply by 5 or even 10 - I kid you not. Only exception is RHD out here, which is worth very little. A few small outfits gather them up and get them back to UK for a profit there.

Nothing much rusts down here in the south, but dings, dents and scrapes are pretty much the norm for anything 3+ years old.

Why? Is it that new cars are relatively more expensive or is it that money, in any form, is hard to raise for expensive new cars?

Or do the Spanish have more sense than the average Brit who seems to like throwing good money after bad on cars?
