So on the way to work this morning on the M8 I noticed in the distance behind me a white car with a row of emergency lights across the top. Odd I thought, so I kept an eye on it to see what it was, then it passed me:

A little bit out of place to say the least! :rofl2:

I only have two questions. 1) Why ??? 2) Is it legal to drive what looks like a genuine or replica police car that isn't really a police car ?

Perhaps its on its way to a movie shoot ??

Well "Y1 COP" is a genuine DVLA registration. It's a Ford Crown Victoria Auto, Taxed and MOTed, first Reg January 2007, Year of manufacture 2002, and a 4,600 cc Diesel under the bonnet!

Cazana is quite a useful site for just plugging a UK Reg No in and it comes up with the basic free info held by the DVLA in one page inc MOT history, reg no changes, number of previous owners etc. That particular car changed reg to "y1cop" in May 2017.

.and this was the actual car in its former reg-no at what would have been an absolutely fascinating event for anyone who likes police cars "Policing Through the Ages" organised by Hampshire Constabulary and Gunwharf Quays. Held at Gunwharf Quays 1.10.2011.

The Ford Crown Victoria (same car as spotted by Simon)

That's a useful site Nigel -not come across it before! It does rather overestimate the mileage of the Visa and Velocette cluttering up my garage.... :rofl2:

Mileage for my Xantia is spot on, probably because it just had an MOT a couple of weeks ago: :)

https://cazana.com/uk/car/R502ODV

It's also pretty close on the Ion, which has done about 34k:

https://cazana.com/uk/car/SB11CWM

Interesting the advisories that the Ion has had for worn tyres at a relatively low mileage! Also that it has had advisories before for front brakes "slightly binding". I've read binding brakes is an issue that can happen on these.

I really need to do the front brakes - not only are the calipers (or pads) rattling quite a lot, they now squeal when I apply the brake slightly against the motor creep in drive mode. [-X

Also spot the anomaly in the Xantia's recorded mileage in July 2007! Hmm....a typo I'm going to assume...

Gosh, your bike has done a lot of miles Richard...

You know what it is... It's an estimate based on age and average mileage completed in a year for that sort of vehicle...
