i took my vehicle to an air conditioning specialist and he said the car needs a new motor. i logged on a website for parts but couldn't find any "motor", but instead had plenty of other parts available for something such as this.
the air conditioning system does not turn on at all, it is completely dead. once, it did turn on at a set of traffic lights even after i first discovered the problem but then turned off again not long after. could this be because someone has done something to my alternator? such as modified it in some way?
if this has nothing to do with my alternator it would be really helpful to know which part i need exactly to remedy this.

Are you saying that the blower fan does not operate? If so, it could be that the fan motor is faulty, or it could be a failure in the electronic module that controls the fan, or it could be a fuse or wiring fault.
It is difficult to diagnose without being more familiar with the wiring on this car or doing some tests on the car.
Are you competent to find the fan motor and measure some voltages? If not, you need to find an auto-electrician who can do a proper diagnosis and fix the problem or tell you definitively which part has failed.
It is not likely to be anything to do with your alternator.

the mechanic just told me outright i needed a new motor and that it would cost seven hundred dollars.
i will have to get the vehicle properly inspected again.

Just to be clear, is the problem.
1. The fans don't turn on inside the car.
2. When you press the ac button nothing happens.
