Re the 407 door seal issue and airbag warnings, after a few days of rain and testing with the hose, I gave up as water was still pooling on top of the bottom door seal and then running inside the car.

My solution was to put a few holes thru the seal with a leather hole punch tool which seems to allow the water to exit (the door seal gets squashed...

What you are describing is normal. I have a 2.1 and my clutch pedal has been like that from day one.

Is there a way to adjust the height of the clutch pedal on my 1997 2.1 xantia. The clutch works fine but the pedal seems way too high in relation to the other two pedals and the foot rest next to the clutch pedal.

I would gues that what you call RP number we may call VIN (Vehicle Identification Number) which in the old venacular was called the Chassis Number and is usually stamped on the top of the mudguard in the channel where the return of the bonnet sits and usually on a RHD car on the passengers side.

I'm not to familiar with AX wiring system, but can give you a few pointers that may help.
If the led had wire tails attached it was most probably sited somewhere on the dash or adjacent to the tax disc holder for visual status for the alarm.

Whilst tinkering inside the car replacing bulbs, fuses etc., a black cut-off wire dropped down in the fuse box - on the end is an LED and it's zip-tied to a cut-off red wire and a green one that is still attached to a loose relay that may or may not be part of the car's standard wiring.

If it doesn't bounce at all you should definetly replace the wheel spheres (on top of the struts) and probably the hydractive (third) sphere as well which lives underneath the car near the front. (Only if you have hydractive, but you most likely will because I think it was standard untill 1996) Replace the acc. sphere if the pressure...

You have to lower the rear on the torsion bars, see
The front, you need some lowering springs. What sort of ZX is it? (Engine, petrol/diesel, is it Volcane, 16v etc etc??) When I know that I can tell you some more about lowering the front.

I have just changed my accu sphere and found this forum topic invaluable
Only I couldn`t find a strap spanner strong enough and didn`t have time to make one so used large cold chisel and hammer to crack the seal before removing by hand(tip also found on forum) Do make sure you do not damage radiator fins when doing so;but it came away easily...

Yes, it's normal. Try not to break it because new ones can be quite expensive.
Mine got a fit of the sags a few years ago - in fact it had been scraping the ground for quite a while before I discovered it. Fortunately I only needed a partial replacement, which wasn't too bad.

Your 'accululator sphere' has nowt to do with the clutch, but you should replace it (£20) before return pipes start blowing off and leaving your car sitting in a green puddle!
What do you mean by 'harch'? Does it go into reverse OK when standing? If not, does the clutch need adjusting?
If the gearchange is just stiff, have you tried lubricating...

i sometimes find the gear change harch in my xantia. its only got 134k on the clock. I know the accululator sphere is knackered (ticks every 1 second its that bad!), so could this be anything do with the problem? ie poor opertaion of the clutch? i presumet he clutch is hydrolically controlled aswell as brakes? the brakes i know have been affected...

I have just replaced my 1.8 16v Xantia with a '99 2.0 Hdi.
I have an intermittent 'clonk' when accelerating, from the rear right hand side.
I have been told that the height corrector needs adjusting/replacing, because the rear sits too high.

Quick reply to these points
1)Dampers for ZX TD Volcane are in fact N45552 and N45554 (same as Berlingo 800kg!)catalogue is not correct here.
2) ZX Arms are all the same apart from 2.0 16v. Its normal to simply change the small front bush and the big P bush at the rear. The arm itself should be fine.
3)The dampers mentioned above are Sachs Boge....

I think the problem may be with the thermo switches controlling when the fans, ventilators you are calling them, should switch on.
The fans operate with the air conditioneing switched on in low speed independantly of the engine temperature.
The thermo switch overides this control and will bring them both on at either low or high speed according...

The 1.9TD was 92BHP. All the Xantia 1.9TD's had the front mounted intercooler with the exception of the vary rare 1.9SD which had no intercooler and only made about 75BHP. These came out around P reg and are rare and best avoided.

ah I get that with mine as well, its quite funny :) I think the whole fuel pickup in it is rubbish as I had just over empty left before when I was competing at Goodwood and it got fuel starvation down the back straight at 120. Put some more fuel in for the next run and it was fine. My visa however you can run it hard in the empty with the light on...

Sounds like drop links.Mine is doing the same.I `sose the V6`s are the same?Do a search for droplinks under me,NP.I discussed this last week with some one,how to check etc.Came to the conclusion that mine need doing.

ZX standard radio casette. Two (2) screws one either side hold it in the dash. About half way down the sides. May be tiny black covers over them but thats it. No clips just the 2 screws.

Can some one make my life easier and tell me how to get out my factory fitted radio. Are there spring clips on the sides or some other method and will a knife in the right place do the job??

Does any one has experience on HDi engine tuning at the ECU level (Engine Control Unit)? By upgrading the base program on the EPROM it is possible to improve considerably the torgue and power (usually called chip tuning).
On a Xantia HDi for instance, torgue may go from 250N/m to near 300N/m, and power from 110Hp to near 140Hp.

I asked the same question when I first got my HDi it seems the only major diffrence is the 90bhp has no intercooler. Type in (110 or 90) in the search engine and go to my thread with the same title and all will be reavealed.

If you know the history of the vehicle then 70k is about right to change. If not best to change what ever the milage. My Xsara has only 41k on the clock and local Citroen dealer said to wait to 75k befor change, but as the vehicle was from Liverpool and I did'nt know how it had been driven (about town or up & down the motorway) I got it changed by...

Easy! the diesel Xantia wins. you can't pay the same for a petrol!
The activa is a swine if it goes wrong
The XM can be difficult.

(But a good BX estate is cheaper to buy and very much cheaper to run!)

Sounds a bit unusual. The alternator on my ZX was still sound at 150,000 miles with no bearing noise at all!

My Xantia 2.0HDi alternator bearing got in bad condition at 50Kmiles/4 years. Is this normal?
From watching the alternator after removal, I noticed a certain rusty on the mechanical connection point. Can this be related to the bearing problem?

My Activa does the same thing, I think it's something to do with the onboard computer testing hydraulics, though I haven't had any max or min problems. Is the LHM level ok, is it clean and green and are the filters clean. Does it need a hydraflush?

It's always done this a bit, but recently it's happening all the time. Car sitting stopped with engine on; stand at the back; the rear end drops a bit driver's side; rises immediately; PR clicks. About 10 seconds later it happens again. Any ideas?

Nobody has dared! As far as I know, the front to rear pipes and those around the front subframe are the most awkward and most folks avoid the front subframe area as there is usually Total rustproofing aplenty! The Ideal (And almost certainly the easiest) way to do it would be to remove the tank and both subframes, repipe the subframes and replace...

It does sound like the radiator is clogged up, probably with limescale if you have been topping up with tap.
Try firstly draining the coolant and disconnecting the radiator hoses and flushing/reverse flushing with a hosepipe. This might dislodge some of the crud in there.I am afraid though that by this stage they are often beyond help and a new...

Having removed the centre panel containing the code keypad mirror controls and assorted switches I found an unconnected orange connector block. I suspect this is the armrest motor connector block can anybody confirm this please?

If you start the car, put it in normal ride height then take off the return pipes on the LHM tank to see if there is an internal leak.(it's best to prise the clips off beforehand). If there is then you will get an increased flow on one compared to the others. On my Activa the first or second pipe nearest the bulkhead leads to the rear anti-sink...

I would say its normal, my XM always did it when i was raising or lowering, i think it is because it uses up the reserve pressure in the accumulator sphere when it wants to lift the car and the pump cant resupply it quickly enough,
Another annoying thing i found with my XM was that if you wanted to do a really quick 3 point turn in the middle of...

I have found that when raising or lowering the suspension the diplays comes up with the warning message low pressure . Is this normal when carying out this operation. The lhm levels seem to be fine the thing odd is that the car takes a while to lift and then a while to lower again? Any ideas, is it just paranoia.

i suppose it would be like a kind of degreaser for the pipes but with an oilyness to it so the pump doesnt sieze. when you take the filters out and there all black,some of it may still get through so you run it with the hydroflush for a few miles then change it to normal LHM. theres a bottle of it at work but the instructions aint english so i...

The reason I ask is because at the weekend I used some 'Hydraflush Super' which I'd bought from Pleiades some time ago, and it looks and smells suspiciously like LHM mixed with petrol. There's certainly a definite petrol smell to it anyway.
Is this likely to be the case, or is there some secret ingredient in it ?
