Re the 407 door seal issue and airbag warnings, after a few days of rain and testing with the hose, I gave up as water was still pooling on top of the bottom door seal and then running inside the car.

My solution was to put a few holes thru the seal with a leather hole punch tool which seems to allow the water to exit (the door seal gets squashed...

It'll either be the plastic housing on the back of the engine that collects the radiator and heater returns and acts as the water pump intake housing, or one of the hoses that runs to it. Either way it's a git to change by all accounts - removing the O/S drive shaft is generally the first step!

Hi, I have just found a puddle under my Xantia TDSX. I have looked under the car and it seems that the water is dripping from the centre of the cross-member that carries the steering gear. I hope that it is a hose thats gone and not the head gasket. There is no mayo in the oil filler cap and there isn't any sign of bubbling or bubbles of air...

Hi all. Having ordered some BX (diesel) bits, nothing out of the ordinary really, alternator,drive shaft etc. was informed that BX spares were being dropped. I know that the BX is now an old car but what a shock.

Sounds like a process of elimination has to start.
Does it do it while in Neutral? This could eliminate anything drive/transmission related.

Hi, i know this is the citroen forum but i have put this post on the peugeot forum and had no response:
I have purchased a 1997 306 gti 6 and at just under the redline (6900rpm) it makes a vibrating/rattling noise (quite loud every gear at same rev)
Has any one got any ideas? Or is this a common problem or are they all like it?

Tom, forgive me for mentioning this but I've always found halfords to have the cylindrical cartridge in stock, it mus cross reference with something common because they never have anything else.
Worth a try if your in a hurry.

This is only a suggestion, if you can get the old one off to use as a pattern it might be possible to get one made up by your local hydraulic hose supplier. Usually a trade arrangement for site contractors etc. Could just be cheaper than new? R

My Series1 XM Turbo Auto has sprung an LHM leak and the hose costs £145.54 from my local dealer. Does anyone have a spare (XM/hose) lying around?
There is an upturned sphere just behind the radiator on the passenger side of the car, beneath this is a metal and rubber sectioned hose that meanders about this general area and apparently goes...

Did you replace the fuel filter?
Try draining the filter. But this is a common fault with the sensor, I ignored mine for about a year before I swapped it over from another engine, now it doesn't bother me anymore.
Ignore it! ;)

Why not ?
The Lambda figure for petrols is optimised for 1, for diesels the Lambda figure is 2.
Honestly I dont think it is the best way to optimise a diesel engine using a Lambda tester. Instead you go for a soot particle test.

Welcome to the forum.
In my 2002 series 1, I fitted a £80 CD/radio from Argos with no problem. All cars from around 1997ish have ISO conectors, as do all new CD players, so it should just plug and play. Sometimes the +tive conections have to be swapped but this should be covered in the fitting instuctions.

You'll need a mirror and again rock the engine in 4th gear and look through the hole of about 6/8mm diameter and carefully look for a small socket screw rotate into position. The metal body you see when you remove the plastic plug does'nt move.
Be warned !!! do not use a allen key with a ball end or you'll snap it off inside the pump. These screws...

I know not everyone will agree with this but ......
I suspect the height corrector is at fault but these are startlingly reliable units.
Check first - You do need to ensure the linkage from the rear roll bar to the height corrector is both free, connected and well lubricated. If this is seized or disconnected it will still operate on high and low...

The suspension was ok a while back, the rear end would take some time to establish itself at normal ride height - if it had sunk down after few days no use - upon start up.
Now the rear end will not rise from lowest setting to normal ride height, it will rise to highest and go to lowest on command; the front behaves...

Rich try the on line store. Thy do all the bits for the ZXthat your after. Personaly I go for a new rad and fan set up not used, see all the threads re rad probs with leaks and bunging up.

As the accumulator pressure reduces over time, you have to pump more LHM in to make the light go out, which takes longer. Eventually, there is so little pressure in the accumulator that there is nothing to compress and the light goes out almost instantly. Long delay before the light goes out is probably a combination of reduced accumulator...

After getting new spheres on each corner of my '00 Xantia HDi, the stop light was going out in around 10 secs after a cold start. It is now taking maybe 30 sec or longer.

The turbo doesn't have any significant troubles that the non-turbo doesn't have. The turbo is slightly less fuel efficient but a lot faster. The turbo / intercooler setup is reliable, the turbo engines are more sensitive to abuse i.e. running a TD with no water in it will kill it more quickly than doing the same in a no turbo.

Hi I have a Xantia with a Clarion PU-9667A radio/casette which appears to be locked. I have disconected the battery but when I reconnect it the radio is still locked can anyone shed any light on how to get this radio working please.
I have the 4 digit unique code ready to put in once I have managed to unlock the unit.

If its an X plater then it has the really simple Girling calipers as fitted to Berlingos and the like.
You just have to undo one 10mm bolt at the bottom, then loosen the one at the top, and the caliper hinges up allowing you to remove the pads. I think that you'll also need a 14mm spanner to stop the caliper slides turning when you're undoing the...

The front ones will more than likely fit but the rear ones will be a problem as 3dr seats are not normally cut away on the base corners making it difficult to get in/out of the car!

I would get 310-320 miles out of a full tank which was about £39. Most of my driving was around the town or thrashing down lanes. On the motorway its a lot better and I think the book figure for it at 56mpg is actually higher than the 8v
The thing that always goes wrong in the 16v bay is the acav vacummn valves. Luckily i made a picture earlier....

I'm currently running a 2.0i ZX Volcane. I'm looking for a ZX 16v but speaking to a few people they say that they can't get more than 25mpg from it. I get 300-350 miles from £35 quids worth of fuel in my 2.0i. Will there be much difference in the two?

good luck it's a bugger of a job done it three times now different ax's never brought any bulbs just took them of other i'm cheap there are a fair few prob 15 in all
this is for later shape ax might be same for old one
you need to remove steering wheel,
then remove the 3 screws that hold the indicator stalks these are revealed when steering...

I think from memory you need to leave the radio on for 1 hour to reset the code. If I am wrong I am sure that somone smater than me will be able to give you more advice

I entered the wrong code, i have the correct one but it just keeps displaying the same wrong code. Tried disabling the battery. Also, at the same time as this my Speedometer has also stopped working.

you need to remove the offside plastic inner shield from inside the wing and you should be able to get to it

My Xantia has sprung a leak from the windscreen washer bottle. It appears to be coming from around the pump (i.e no obvious hole in bottle). Any idea how easy it is to get the pump out and get some sealant around it?

I snook this in the Cit section its actually a Peugeot 205 but its the same engine they put in the 1.0 ax so... its nto that bad really...
Anyway, the wife has a 205, i know the timing belt was changed by the previous owner but i dont know when or at what mileage as the doofus didnt date the invoice... clever...

From other posts ive read I believe the answer is no, especially with such a small amount such as a litre, though the usual advice is to keep filling it up to water it down when you've used a bit.

He wont look so clever when he blows it up. Why didn't Citroen crank up the boost if its so good?
And another thing, a petrol would be quicker against a clock because a petrol can generally rev half as much again in the same gear.

I've seen on another site where a chap says he has got 129bhp from a 1.9td by just increasing the boost, using the Standard Intercooler and no Head gasket problems. His boost is set at 1.6 bar. Its been on rolling road to get this figure.
Surely there must be more to this just pumping up the boost??

Ok . First wipe over and then spray in every port or hole carb cleaner. Spray until it runs out clear. Then once dry spray with the WD40 silicone spray in the same places as the cleaner. Allow to dry then refit. You can take them apart but it's a right pain. That oil is from the induction side of the manifold, it's the result of the burnt oil...

It kinda hesitates when doing a normal accl, especially when doing 1500-3500 rpm. It`s very raw when taking foot on/off accelerator.

There is a white plastic insert (which may be a rusty orange colour) inside the header tank. If you can see water with this white plastic in the tank, there is enough water in. The plastic insert has a cut in the side of it, the bottom of the cut is the maximum water level the bottom of the insert is the minimum water level.

That's a good price for a 306 HDi, but only because there's no history. When I bought mine I saw one that had no history. The dealer gave me the spiel about him getting a lot of cars from this place and that they're usually fine . It was absolutely mint too: X-plate, Diablo red, full GLX spec, the precious Cyclone GTI6 alloys, about 80k. I think...

Has the rear axle been changed? Early C5's had problems with rear tyre wear caused by rear axle wear / bad manufacture (can't remember which or if it was both). Changed at Citroen's expense - I'd suspect you could get yours done if it hasn't been yet.

Remove starter to see timing hole, no wet liners, turn it as you need to, ondo turbo oil feed at both ends to get the head off complete with turbo and manifolds.

Check eBay regularly; that's where I got one for my 306 from. Try searching for phrases like zx handbook and zx owners manual as they seemed to give the best results for me.

First check the filters and the condition of the hydraulic fluid in the LHM reservoir. If the fluid is anything less than almost fluorescent green, it needs changing. The filters and reservoir should be cleaned out at the same time- you can find instructions on this site. If this does not help, the High Pressure hydraulics pump may be worn out,...

Sounds like a fuelling problem. You've probably heard enormous bangs coming out of some diesels on startup - particularily if they have not started properly and easystart has been used. This is due to overfuelling apparently.
The simple answer must be injectors but I suppose our old friend air could cause some problems by allowing some misfiring...
