Re the 407 door seal issue and airbag warnings, after a few days of rain and testing with the hose, I gave up as water was still pooling on top of the bottom door seal and then running inside the car.

My solution was to put a few holes thru the seal with a leather hole punch tool which seems to allow the water to exit (the door seal gets squashed...

Have you tried a little WD40 or simalar. Could be just a dirty contact, dust in the connectors. Have alook by taking off the steering cowling / shroud.

Cant really advise but ive been to france to watch the le mans 24 hour race 3 times. First time in my visa gti I took a railway crossing too quick and destroyed a rear shock. Drove back down the road with my friend and using sign language at this local citroen speciliast garage got them to come and pick it up and left the car there for 4 days...

As long as the lean is not too excessive and you don't go too high on the stands you should be alright. I have a set of 2tonne stands from H***ords and they are ok for a ZX or Xsara. And my drive slopes down hill a little but I always chock the rear wheels aswell.

First of all piston speed is not linear, because they are conected to the crankshaft the pistons are traveling at their highest speed exactly half way through the stroke, for the rest of the stroke they are either accelerating or decelerating, the piston rapidly decelerates to zero at the end of each stroke and doesn't simply start back in the...

drive it for another few hundred miles and youre pretty much guarenteed a head gasket failure as those 1.4 k series love doing that so im told

There was recently a wondering why thread and that got me to wondering why:
Citroen did not divorce the damping effect from the sphere, say by means of an electro valve that sat in front of the sphere.
That could then be controlled by the driver (within a suitable range) from the cabin to provide the level of comfort (softness) desired ?

That is purely due to the way the forum software works. The pages for a single thread are at the next 'level' below those of a topic group.
The software designer simply chose to have a combo box (drop down) instead of 'next' and 'previous' links, so that is how it is, good or bad.

Just wondering, why is it on the main pages showing all the threads you can only select the next page via the drop down menu, ie to go to page 2
However if you go into a thread which has multiple pages of posts, you get a next page link which I find better for quick navigation

what year is the car ? if its an older model the relay is below the fusebox,cant remember the colour of the relay but its a 3 pin relay & should be on a grey plug.pin 1 should be earth pin 2 should be a constant feed from the hazzard switch & pin 5 goes to the switch.
if its a later model xsara (with multiplexing) its a different kettle of fish...

zx wont be quite as fast off the line as its heavier but overall its probably about the same speed. If you can get a later mk2 version with the 167bhp engine it will be faster still. Handling wise the zx 16v is great and easily on a par with the mk2 golf. Lot of fun as they go around corners like they are on rails and do not lean or anything, good...

Tried the rheostat (dimmer)? Don't know about AX's inparticluar, but they tend to be on the underside of the steering column. Try wiggling it, or even shorting it out.

Hi my girlfriends AX dash lights don't work at all. Have replaced the bulbs but it's no better. There doesn't appear to be a feed to the circuit board. The radio and fog lights illumination works as it should but no dash lights. Incidentally the heater control lights don't work either but that doesn't really matter. Seems to me like the bloke could set up a business. He had the same effect as a speed camera, and claims pension which is a lot less than the cost of a bailif ( sorry, Partnership Employee ).
It really does stink somewhat though, Biddy banned for doing cop job .

As result of all the tests carried out re thread Slow Avantage or fast Aura I did manage to work out how to adjust the 'change point' on the ZX-Peugeot 1.9D auto gearbox (1993-4) when fitted with a Bosch diesel pump.
To make the gearbox hold its gears longer you have to loosen the nut that locks the throttle cable in place and slide it towards...

Does anyone know how to change the colour of the rubber door protector strips and bumpers on a ZX? The window rubbers, door handles, etc are all black, the car is light grey, but the bumpers and door fingy's are a dark ish grey! ?? They don't match anything? Friday paint job maybe?
Would paint just come off when hosed/washed? Can they be stained...

why not use a tensile bolt? From what I recall my Renault 21 had pressed steel hunges and I expect some of the pins have worn the holes in the hinge= in which case if access is reasonable you may be able to drill them oversize.
The problem I had was with the driver's door hinge falling off either the bodywork or the door (can't remember which now)...

Assuming I can extract the hinge pins from my Savanna does anybody have any suggestions about what to replace them with?
I don't want to buy the real thing because I think much of the wear will be on the actual hinge so the correct pin won't help much.
Is there a favourite cure for the worn hinge problem? I've posted it here because it's something...
