Re the 407 door seal issue and airbag warnings, after a few days of rain and testing with the hose, I gave up as water was still pooling on top of the bottom door seal and then running inside the car.

My solution was to put a few holes thru the seal with a leather hole punch tool which seems to allow the water to exit (the door seal gets squashed...

It's the I have a right to get a drivers licence attitude that some of todays youth have. Because THEY are younger and have a more expensive car (third party insurance if any) they and many others have a get out of my way attitude . Some of the worst drivers apparently are those aged 18 to 25 and 55 onwards. Must be something in the water or gin.

Well, none of us like to get out of bed on cold days and you expect a tiny little thing like that to wake up and glow at trillions of degrees centi just because you throw a switch! Take pity on the little chap and say good morning nicely, it's probably the only human bit in the car at that hour!

I've noticed on very very cold days the bulb behind my fuel gauge doesn't come on in the morning, until I've been driving for a few miles then it decides to get out of bed & join its buddies.
Maybe its the bulb or the bulbholder that shrinks slightly when very cold, can't imagine the thermal movement is more than a few thou though.

This is mildly worrying, not because of the clear ferocity of the fire, or indeed how it took hold rather quickly (though they still managed to unload the bags).
No what worries me is the hapless tourists treating it like a picnic - photo 6 and 7 shows people very close just sitting around - one almost feels teh need to break out a thermos of weak...

Missing the rear sunblind on the ZX - The AX does not have one .
I Miss it most at night where it stops me being blinded by the bloody HID lights you get in new Range Rovers and Jags - great for illuminating the inside of my car!

Dropper resistors i suppose - Thats how the majority of 24v - 12v adaptors work.
Funnily enough im just scratcing my head trying to work out the correct resistor to use to drop 12v to 3v to drive a blue LED - Used to do these sorts of calculations a lot.
Use 1W resistors if going this route ( I would anyway). Someone else may be able to suggest...

Dodgy switch contacts can give weird symptoms like this. They will allow enough current through to light a small bulb, or show on a voltmeter, but not to run something that consumes huge current like a shower.
I wonder if the contacts in either the pull switch, or the ELCB have partially burned out ?
Is this a new installation, or has it worked...

Electric shower with ceiling switch; fed from its own ELCB at the consumer unit.
Turn on the ceiling switch. Wee light on the switch comes on OK. There's live to the inside of the shower. But the power light on the shower does not come on.
Press the shower button. Nothing happens. Wee light on...

one of the little levers in the linkage (theres really only one) had to be reversed 180 degrees, suggest you put the wiper on and stare at it, WARNING a good mate chopped the end off a finger with a wiper linkage, theres a lot of torque there, how is the new AX?

500 seems a bit hight to me, unless it's got 30k genuine on the clock.
I paid 230 for mine about 6 months ago, 1.5 at 232k miles.

I now realise why all the photos were of soft focus rather than the seller being a numpty with the camera there are one or two more blemishes than he admits to in the item description, its clearly been in a front ender and the panel gaps are terrible - not hideously out, but more back street...

Does anybody know of a QH stockist carrying diesel glow plug relays under the QH brand? all my local ones dont carry relays, and an original pug price of £65+vat seems rather steep. Carole,
I can only agree with you sentiments.
But then I would as much of my occupation is the same as yours, and so are both the vehicle makes I currently run/support.
Sad to say we are now down to just one Series...and a rolling chassis in the hedge at that. Still as long as you have a steering wheel and tax disc holder there's enough to start...

Now i know that this cars speedo did Over-read by a fair bit but when thew BMW driver decided to call a halt to proceedings and drive normally again I had seen 145mph indicated...

Just been and had a look at the new C4 . Both models are really good looking cars with the 3 door being the strangest to look at . The 5 door has all the usual stuff that you'd expect in a modern hatch back but with the added 5 star N cap saftey test. Loads of room both front and rear, split rear seats and so on . cool, great xmas present (presume wbm is the other half?). I have visions of finding a visa gti that someone bought new and fitted a 1.9 16v into like me but turbo charged etc. Oh and they kept it in a heated garage with a dehumidifier system all its life heh. I have also updated my profile as I got a new car a week ago :)

D'you know Neil, im sure if you replaced all but the plug under the pump it would start fine.
Before i got the ZX it had only 2 functional glow plugs - and still stsrted and ran perfectly (it now has 3 functional glow plugs and still starts and runs well).
Im sure I will be lambasted for doing only half a job (or 3/4 of a job) but lazy is my...

Sods law.Glowplugs need doing again.Starts up ok,but runs worse than a tractor for 10 secs or so.Do the glowplugs twice & it starts & runs smooth.I only did then 2 yrs ago,surely they should last longer than this?

Easiest way of explaining it is the Cordiano nee Chapman strut.
Assume that the rear wheels toe in and that they have negative camber.
As the body rolls, the toe in becomes greater on the outer wheel, increasing the turn into the bend.
The disadvantages of the setup are a slight increase in rolling resistance and tyre wear.

My Xantia came with two plip keys and one plain one. Obviously if you lock up with the plip key and then unlock with the plain one, the alarm goes off.

The local scum broke into a 306 like this in my street the other week, They bent the top of the door down & creased it, wrecking the door, but they couldnt get it open because of the DEADLOCKS.

Hello, The trim is chrome painted plastic, covered with a laquer.
even fairly vigorous polishing can strip the laquer and then the chrome . TBH the only way round this if they are suffering badly is either to source some new inserts at a scrappers, or have them repainted by on eof the chip away / dentmaster boys. They did my accident damaged...
