Re the 407 door seal issue and airbag warnings, after a few days of rain and testing with the hose, I gave up as water was still pooling on top of the bottom door seal and then running inside the car.

My solution was to put a few holes thru the seal with a leather hole punch tool which seems to allow the water to exit (the door seal gets squashed...

Well, Tom, one of the answers is obviously yes.... (the last one).
Maybe they're just starting to obey the laws of bangernomics - 12 months MOT = £300 to £400. Tax pro rata. Maybe not.
As for the ones without tax, perhaps there are just a lot of trader part-ex cars on offer - the it owes me principle (chop in the tax straight away and try it on...

Poking around Ebay, there is a TZD estate for nearly £500 and
lots of saloons with no tax or a very short ticket for between £300 and £500. That's a much firmer price than we have been used to!

Well the ZX should have the 2.0 155BHP (But alegedly 150BHP) lump as used in the late 405Mi16's.
The Pug has at least a 12bhp advantage, but is it not heavier......?
I don't know much about the specs/figures of either car to be honest, but I suspect there would be little to choose.

Buy another BX. No bother since. The mysterious cooling system problem turned out not to be (Always overheated after a level check but leave it alone and it loses no water! Odd!) and a new speedo cable was 5€ from a scrapper in France.Some use has improved it but I still don't like it, hence the new TZD project, of which more anon.

Get some of Clearalex crystals or tablets (you can get them in Halfrauds). I have no idea what's in them, but it is unsurpassed for keeping windscreens clean. Takes a while to cut through the gunge initially but it gets there. Add some meths to the washers to stop them freezing (or some other screenwash additive if you don't like the smell!).

Years ago I used to use Flash Liquid and the screen sparkled. Then they changed it and its as crap as everything else now, a nice film of traffic gunge smeared across the screen.

Errr...first, place on axle stands,then, errr...... depressurise the system.......ummm,er,.... try pulling your eyelid down and then blowing your nose!!!!

The ASRoc motherboard WONT support the AMD 3.4+ CPU. Sez it will on the box but it wont!! Causes reboots, overheats, etc etc.. I have had to replace mine with an ABIT NF7 series motherboard, it now runs a dream.. (erm so far. lol)..

It costs me about £40 to get to the Spanish border in the Alps, it's a chunk, but the motorways are so much quieter that the UK. cos when your running a fleet of turcks and the fuel bill is for millions of litres then theres a rather large difference in cost between 80ppl and 81ppl! And it gives boring people something to do 'Oh look the Esso is only 80.8, i'll go there instead of the local shell at 80.9'

Just received the V11 road tax application in respect of the Berlingo, and notice that I can now tax it via the Internet or telephone, great!
It states that the DVLA will electronically check databases for
-a valid Vehicle Insurance (UK)
-a valid test Certificate (MOT) if required.
So at last, they can tell if a car is MOT and insured. Hopefully...

A bit like the M40 at about 2.30 in the morning south bound eh! It's so rare these days to find even a smidgen of quite or decent road. I bet there was some dirty old speed camera about though. It was probably taking a wiss when you drove past.

Had some business up on the Welsh coast yesterday, drove up on nearly EMPTY ROADS I actually could enjoy my car! driving at the speeds I wanted to rather than being dictated by thousands of other road users, I remembered why I built the thing now I think I have been commuting too long.

I once suffered at the hands of a road rager. It would seem that I 'stole' his parking space, though I genuinely didn't realise he was waiting for it, and in any event - I just drove into it at normal speed. He came over effing and jeffing at me and I apologised, explained I didn't realise he was waiting and pointed out that, in any event, I was...

OK so myself and wife were in a local nearby town today as i had the day off. On the way home i came to a low railway bridge thing with a narrow lane and Big white arrow has priority over the small red arrow jobbies.
As we approached (me driving) there was traffic coming through but as it was my right of way i just slowed on final approach...

Probably not much in it. The vr6 has a bit more power but is heavier and automatic. It will be quicker higher up I expect where bhp counts more. Theres also the fact that the mk3 is commonly accepted as being the worst Golf and the zx will be far more fun to drive and handle better. However the golfs probably higher quality and specification etc...

Out of interest will a 16v zx keep up with a 1996 VW golf VR6 automatic, only a friend of mine is thinking of getting one. So if anyone has driven/owned one of these before you may be able to comment on this.

Yes it does!! You will have water from condensation in the tank as well. Assuming everything else is o.k., no air leaks, etc, if it does start fill it to the brim with fresh diesel, then run it dry, and change the fuel filter as wall, before the next fill.

Just a general question, does diesel lose its power over time, kind of how petrol loses octane?
Got a car getting very difficult to start, engines just been rebuilt, pump timing is sound, as are glowplugs and injectors but the diesel has been sat in the tnk for near 4 months.

Told me 185/60s for the Volcane. But I'm nearly sure it takes 185/65s. And it recommended 215/45s for the Seat, which definitely sits on 225/45/17s!
I don't think KwikFit are all that bad (all of the time). This doesn't help improve their image though!

Being lazy I decided to go onto Kwik Fits website to price some tyres up for the AX (it needs 2) - I saw and advert in the paper yesterday with one of these buy one get one free offers and was trying to find which tyre fitters it was - anyway its not Kwik Fit.
But I decided to use their tyre selector thingumabob, couldnt remember what speed rating...

I ordered my new injectors yesterday lunchtime, came home from work today, and there they were-when I phoned I was told there were only 5 left in stock nationally as they're being discontinued, so they did a physical check, and now they're here!!!

I'm sure you can have a Saxo in GranTourismo, and I think there's a Xsara in need for speed underground 2, will have to pinch them off my 7 year old to check!!

Hmmmm, could it just be the lack of ambient noise at night makes the wind sound all the more loud?
Or it could be that all that daylight isn't in the way to slow the gusts down?
My money's on the latter.

Forget hydractive, it would have to be ACTIVA! strapped onto the chasis of the CX, nice big base to stick a 3 litre V6 onto. Magic bend lights and DIRAVI a must! Can we add hydraulic everything (windows seats etc) we might never find them in the scrap yard, but Citroen did tinker with them.
I guess we could have automatic rain movers from a C5,...

The plan is to build an ideal car using parts from any of the French models covered in this Forum. You have to list the parts and why you are using them. E.g. Xantia Hydractive suspension for efficiency....etc. etc.
It doesn't matter if the parts are not really compatible. This is a fantasy model!
