Re the 407 door seal issue and airbag warnings, after a few days of rain and testing with the hose, I gave up as water was still pooling on top of the bottom door seal and then running inside the car.

My solution was to put a few holes thru the seal with a leather hole punch tool which seems to allow the water to exit (the door seal gets squashed...

must admit i was slightly confused at how i might have got a ticket in Cmabridge last thursday when the car has been without an engine for over a month, though i'm slightly worried about the picture now! God knows what i'll do, i suspect i better just wait and see!

With the new freedom of information act, the public are allowed access to speed camera offences registered within the last 12 months.
Everytime your car goes over the speed limit it is registered on the database. However, you are only sent a ticket if you are way over the limit OR you have notched up over 20 'near misses'.

Red diesel is always overpriced when you buy if from a marina, because if you can afford to run a boat you can afford to be overcharged for your fuel.
Unless you're buying large quantities of the red stuff, you'll not get it cheap, if you knew a farmer you'd have a cheap source of red diesel but you've still got to get it to your boat. I do know...

imo you'll need 6 inches for topsoil as a minimum. If that is on top of rock or concrete, grass will dry out and go brown in a hot summer so 9 inches is better. If, however, you have clay and or soil then 6 inches will be ok. If you have loads of roots spray with a systemic weedkiller (Roundup?) and leave to die for 2 months before doing any...

I`m hiring a mini digger at the w/end to scrape the surface of our garden, as far as i can tell it has`nt been touched for at least 10yrs the grass is all rootbound and general crap, how far should i scrape to allow for the grass to take properly. i`m doing the scrape and putting down top soil, so i need to work out how much to buy.

I thought that dash was GS rather than GSA - so I learn something every day.
I'm amused that I can't bit - as I don't have the necessary feedback. Strange to exclude potential purchasers like that but I suppose he knows what he is doing! Bit like advertisinbg your car for sale at the roadside without a price!

Well, the legendary state of French roads had a bit to do with it I guess. Certainly if the tale of the 2CV design brief was to be able to carry a basket of eggs across a ploughed field is true!
In the early 50's Citroen had a policy of very free thinking on all matters of car design and allowed their top designers to go off in quite advanced ways...

Had one as a courtesy car recently, quite impressed with it. Didn't have any problem with the gearchange but it may be down to what you are used to.
Personally I hate the notchy gearchange I get on other cars (Fords mainly).
I take it that by new you mean 0 miles new?

My works has bought a new Pug 206 HDI 3 door 'sport' with all the bits on it . Nice looking car and goes quite well, but! what's with the wooden spoon stiring custard gear stick? no feel to it when changing gears. Hi Jon, on my autoroute prog it looks as though there is a resonable route from Glos Jctn 11a M5 to the M4 near Swindon. (A417 A419)... As you travel to B/ham a lot you probably know the best route to take..
My question is - - is it better to go M5.. M4.. Bath.. to get to Salisbury, from up north, or is the Glos to Swindon route a better choice?...

What about Andyspares? This forum tracks you, it means once you're logged in you don't have to re-log in every time you come back to the site.
Autotrader gives more search facilities to people who are logged in, so you get a cookie for the same reason.

Yes I watched it, the most irritating owner I thought was the bloke in the black VW Toureg. Even the campaigner who went around sticking fake parking tickets on the urban 4x4's I thought was ok. How did you find the figures out? A topic of this was touched on on another car, nothing to do with ANDYSPARES/GSF or a PSA car - (Ford Orion mk1) and dvla would not release the numbers on how many were left. How did you get the numbers you jammy bugger ?

I recently fitted a set of alloy valve caps to the Xantia, nothing flash, they were only £2.50 for a set of four but better than the standard plastic jobs. Came back today to find they had all be stolen. How desperate do you have to be to do such a thing? Probably being fitted to a clapped out Nova as I write. Bleedin' little thugs.

In the mid to late 1980's Redbridge council had a fleet of custom built Austin Maestro pick-ups-it was never an officially available version, but they had loads of them. I doubt a single one exists...

Jut drilled two holes for the strings and tied a heavy nut on the end, it works fine but - - you have to make sure there's room under the nut for it to drop right down.. With a full boot preventing the nuts dropping, I would prob still have string hanging out the back.. lol.
BTW. I changed the thermostat, replaced the temp sensor in the rad,...

BTW, I've discovered that putting freshly ground cardamom in my coffee powder improves the flavour immensely - about 5 green cardamom pods to a 250gm pack of coffee, ground up and husks removed. Delicious.

lol that can make such a difference though. When I went and test drove my Supra I thought it was ok, not that quick but would do for now. Stopped at the services by Crawley on the M23 for petrol then moved the carpet back which didnt look in the right place. Nearly spun it leaving the services as it suddenly had a lot more power :D

Funny you should post this Chrispy, I drove my son's 405 1.9 TD the other day. It was mine until five months ago and I came to exactly the same conclusions as you. It felt stodgy to me. Intercooler maybe. The Xantia one is massive and right in the cold airflow, much to the distain of the coolant rad! Some say it's not so good as the 405 top loader...

I like it, and James May likes it too. Perhaps its a bit big for me, and the fuel economy from the V6 diesel won't be as good as the 4 cylinder ones so it may not be for me, It looks good in a way that the C5 never did, the C5 has a nice face these days but it looks a bit lardy from certain angles. Time will tell no doubt.

Part of the performance problem was down to weight. Lotus was brought in to engineer the car and make it handle and they needed to make the chassis stiffer so they added a heavy steel backbone to the car (similar to what the Esprit had) which made the car rather heavy.
Apparently the engine was (distantly ?) related to the 12v V6 that the XM used...

Well one Delorean mystery solved at least!
Anyone who knows about the DMC12 knows how ever amazing a car it was, it was woefully under powered. Like many others i've always found it unbelievable that such a big engine could be so pathetically underpowered, but i might have accidentally stubled accross the reason!

1. TUIT its a very useful tool and used wisely it will cover many applications like when you get TUIT .

my trade is auto mechanic and questions are being asked on problems but as there is no email address given I cant help, its not possible to type the fix when you need to rebuild the cylinder head its too time consuming, all I can try to do is email the required data by picture and data but I need the email address, the email address means nothing...
