Re the 407 door seal issue and airbag warnings, after a few days of rain and testing with the hose, I gave up as water was still pooling on top of the bottom door seal and then running inside the car.

My solution was to put a few holes thru the seal with a leather hole punch tool which seems to allow the water to exit (the door seal gets squashed...

Hmmm...they consider the Yugo to be twice as bad as the Ford Pinto. The Yugo may have been cr@p but surely its not worse than a car that routinely used to turn into a fireball after a relatively minor collision?!

Its not really me that wants to know this as I dont have a cat-fitted deisel car but my friend runs a VW Caddy van and wants to start running on veg oil and pay all taxes etc.... When exactly did Cats come in as compulsory.
As i understand it all cars after about K reg must have a cat as standard.
Having said that, my wife owns a nissan, its a laye 93 L reg. Its not got a cat, its certainly never had one either, no sign of lambda wiring etc. (i assume diesel cats have lambda sensrs etc)

No idea im afraid but vaguely on topic...what was the diesel in the Maestro? My parents had an M reg Mastro Clubman turbo diesel but im sure it was a 2 litre. Was this some earlier engine which Rover gave up with and went and swapped to PSA ones?

To make any progress at all in London you have to sometimes stop on a box junction, you would be stuck at the lights forever, otherwise.
I wonder how many of Kens exploding bendy-buses have got tickets for blocking box junctions- I see this all the time, they are too big to get across in one go!!

Big syringe, from the chemist or similar, full full of fluid, attached with nice clear tube to system and slowly feed it up through.

I dont know about bus drivers in your areas but i know for a fact that down here in portsmouth they are a real pain the in the backside. Take for example today a bus driver pulled out in front of a guy in a freelander who happend to be in front of me the guy in the freelander slams on his brakes i do the same except i dont stop in time wham...

I fyou get mega desperate i might be able to play at some time. Dont have a van but could pick one up off Salford Van Hire and do the dee, though im a bit of a way away from the lot of them in Liverpool! No points on the licens though!

With access to a transit. I have slipped up and bought a largish item of furniture off ebay and need to get it from there to coventry and I dont think the activa is big enough. I blame my other half for getting auction fever and dropping me in it from a great height. There is lots of beertokens in this for somebody as with 8points on my licence...

Rather nice, and BIN price seems reasonable. Cannot figure out the bit about the Austin Seven - a very small car, and I think that Sir Alan would be upset about calling it whicker- work!

Hi All,
I have volunteered to do a head gasket on a 96 escort with the 1.6 16v zetec motor.
I have NO experiance whatsoever with fords, have done head gaskets on an old visa and 8v xantia.
Anybody have any special info/tips i should know before wading in? I shall probably go and get a Haynes Book of lies tommorow.

I've bought a Xantia 1.9TD SX with 51000 on the clock and FCSH, no CD player like my previous HDI but it's got the rain sensing wipers.
The front spheres need changing and it's bouncing down the road like tiger at the moment. Anyway a trip to Accrington to get front spheres should sort out that problem.

I dont think they are legal unless theres someone in the other car or they are being recovered. There was a thread about it on my motorsport forum somewhere...

1 page down, states the legalities or lack of, basically only to be used to move a car to a safe place or by a registered recovery firm it seems

How long is a piece of string? some injectors can go on for ever, others start smoking, dripping and generally misbehaving, good fuel hygiene, filter changes occasional injector cleaner, veg oil, unleaded etc could see em go on for a long time, as for the mazda belt its possibly time expired but 16k is very little.

My car is running ok, (My car has a bosch pump) no known problems. But. the injectors may well have been in situ from new so...

I use paint to resize to the correct size its then a case of putting your picture on a site like geosites, photobucket etc then when you go to edit your signature link to the web address that your picture is on IE

1. Valve guides should be checkable by eye and feel when you have the valve out, look at them, any visible wear spots? hold the head of the valve and 'feel' for lateral play, any more than nough to allow the valve to slide into the...

To put it into context i have the head in the kitchen and the bottom end in the garage (20 miles away). I'm happy that i need to take the head to bits to check the valve...

Well vangreen I hope you enjoy yourself, and have a successful event. That certainly will be a lot of 2cv's at one event, so it looks like you will be very busy.

Well, it is upon us. The World Meeting of 2cv Friends commences on Tuesday 26th. Something like 3000 cars are expected so you may get delayed on all northbound motorways over the next week!
It takes place in Kelso in the Scottish Borders and 2cv'ers from all over the world (including Japan and Australia!) will be visiting.

It's up against stiff competition from BMW, Mercedes, Audi - well, just about everybody really. Joe Soap isn't going to buy a Cit over one of those brands.
Shame really, it'll make a great buy in five year's time.

I would guess that the aerial is not well optimised for AM reception, being optimal for FM reception. Years back car radios always had a little adjustable trimmer capacitor to tune the aerial for optimal AM reception and this was always a very critical adjustment. I have not listened to an AM broadcast in the car for donkeys now so I don't know if...
