2008 Grand C4 Picasso AC / blower speed

Post by Orbit Motors »

My other half has a 58 reg Grand C4 Picasso - on the whole it has been very good to us and is a nice car. However we have an issue with the AC only blowing on either maximum or on the second to highest maximum setting (digital displays on the outer edge of the car).

I would assume this is some sort of resistor issue usually, however I'm puzzled as to why the top two speeds work instead of just the one. And there appear to be multiple possible resistors for this car, if this is even the cause of the issue at all of course.

Any insight before I throw parts at it?

Many thanks
Cheers,
Miles

If it just about starts and drives, I'll probably buy it.

Can you pop the VIN up for the vehicle in question so I can see what it does and doesn't have. Usually it's all or nothing on these, but I'll have a check.

VF7**************[VIN obfuscated, can be read by forum staff]

Meant to say, would have put Diagbox on it to read any codes but I'm having some issues with my laptop at the moment. Thanks again

Ok, so the reason may be that you have a Main Blower Motor (2) and an Additional Blower Motor (10), each with their own Heater Motor Control Modules (HMCM) shown at (3) and (11) respectively.

Yes, mine did exactly this. I believe it's part 3 you need to replace. A pattern one off eBay cost me around a tenner.

Looks fun to get to! If I'm replacing one I may just replace the other at the same time so I only bit my head / scrape my wrists to ribbons once.

Cheers guys

In hindsight I'll stick to part number 3 for now seeing as the one at number 11 is rather expensive!
