A welcome revival of the thread Mick and the food looks very appetising. :-D The previous post on the thread was back in November.

The thread should be a piece of cake to contribute to, and the general idea was to provide a home for the many interesting hostelries/cafes/hotels across the country and beyond. Many have interesting history, architecture and facillities. names, sign art. A brief review of the previous posts on the thread points to the type of thing.

New contributions welcomed now that Mick has reminded us that the thread exists :-D

Nice one Steve, your debut on the thread, keep them coming.

You may be interested in this gallery, bang on topic for the thread and some gorgeous artwork from Alan Spillett, in his own words a lorry painter this is his roadside cafe's selection.

(note to view all pics on the gallery click the right arrow bottom right on the landing page)
He has added this poignant piece to his gallery on the section described as "Last Pictures"
The Older I get the Better I was! - well, I can't see properly, hand shakes, am chuntering on about nothing all day, forgetting where I am. Not ideal for an Experienced Rambling Lorry Painter! Have been painting for a living for nearly 40 years, so it was with a Heavy heart I, or we, more like, decided to pack up in May 2022. These are the very last commissions painted since 2020. One or two non commissions still to do, like "East of England" - Watts Bros Thornycroft 8, and "Y Cymro" - O.J.Jones' Renault 8, and some already underway like Roundabouts & Swings. So will be adding to the list. Climb aboard, here we go -

Some excellent work there Neil, thanks for posting the link. I must confess when I read 'lorry painter' I thought he was a man with a spray gun and an air brush who painted lorries. Obviously that was wrong but I was very pleased to discover what he does do!! :-D

As well as a few Elephant and Castle's including the original appearing in the list of pubs which appear on bus destination boards, here we have Ashington's Elephant elevated to pub of the Day

The most famous Pub on a bus Route Destination Board is of course Consett's very own Hat and Feather
