I believe RCI have a formula for working out the buy-out price for a battery lease. A 9 year old car will be at the lowest end of their calculations, as they have effectively collected the full cost plus their profit from what the original battery price would have been had the original purchaser bought the batteries and the car. I suspect it would be in the £2k to £2.5 k range, still less than you could buy similar capacity batteries at if you could find them.

There is a bit of a wind of change with car makers seeing the benefit of battery leasing again, so that effectively they have control of the battery asset and can recycle end-of-useful life traction batteries in motor vehicles, into second-life domestic storage products. Can't imagine its going to be a directive from Renault for first gen Zoe batteries to be brought back into the Renault fold, so I think RCI may still be open to offer a battery lease buyout for our auction Zoe.

That "Check Electrical System" warning is referred to here

https://www.speakev.com/threads/check-e ... tem.17154/

One of the most likely and simple causes could be the 12V Battery not being up to scratch. Really quite likely given the circumstances of the sale.

Looks like they have added the information e-mailed to you Mick on the listing.

The RCI information is critical to that sale and I would expect that they would add that to the listing should it prove that the Zoe has a leased battery. I see some bidders have crawled out of the woodwork.

Not sure they have the V5.....the listing says "documents...no"
Last V5 issued according to DVLA was 18th July 2018.

Summary of info on the car I have dug out.
Renault Dynamique Intens Auto first reg March 2014 current mileage 71,422 miles June 03 2023

MOT Record
17th Nov 2022 Pass 69,248 Expiry 19th November 2023
19th Nov 2022 Pass 60,162
20th Nov 2020 Pass 54,889
14th May 2019 Pass 43,897
17th May 2018 Pass 33,986
13th Mar 2017 Pass 25,204

First Registered March 2014
Last V5 issued 14th July 2018
65kW motor (Q210)
22kWh battery.

The Zoes produced until June 2015 are powered by a 22 kWh lithium-ion battery pack weighing 275 kg, driving a 65 kW (87 bhp; 88 PS) synchronous electric motor supplied by Continental and called the Q210.

No DC Charging available on the Zoe of this vintage. If you can find them offers Rapid AC charging at up to 43kW, although finding such outlets now is increasingly rare although AC chargers at 22kW are fairly widespread, and 11kW AC, 7kW AC posts commonplace.

I was going to look up the warning light this morning Neil but you beat me too it, the 12 volt battery is in the service schedule to be replaced every three years, it's reckoned to be a bit special and quite pricey at the dealers, I've seen £150 mentioned but there are many from the likes of Halfords for under £70..........maybe the fitting is more than the usual one off and one on, haven't checked.

This EV Specifications Site gives a very comprehensive run through of all aspects. This is for the car which I believe is the same spec to the one in the auction.

I'm following this thread with great interest... I'm pretty much certain now my next car purchase, when the Saxo finally becomes BER, will be a second-hand electric one so this is all jolly useful information... Keep it coming ;)

Why not look to convert the Saxo to fully electric? I am sure you have the ability, and you can acquire the knowledge.

That's a potentially good thought James, given there's some interest these days about converting classics to electric...

A thread on converting to electric, I'm interested. This buy from auction and leased batteries is concerning though, I never knew that was a thing.
