The bus shelters in Chester-Le-Street :)

Quite lovely and clearly well loved too... As is all around those parts... Never have I seen such fine bus shelters and not a sign of vandalism or graffiti anywhere...

With the locals having commoner's rights our bus shelters become sheep shelters littered with green poo. :(

Battery powered public transport ? Nothing new in that. Well this one's a train :)

UK's first battery-powered trains hit the tracks

"The UK's first battery-powered passenger trains have started running in Merseyside.

The trains, which are part of the Liverpool City Region's £500m publicly owned fleet, will run from the new £80m Headbolt Lane station in Kirkby."

"The battery technology - which removes the need for a live third rail - could see the Merseyrail network running to previously inaccessible places, including Manchester, Wrexham, Warrington, Preston and Runcorn, according to a Liverpool City Region Combined Authority spokesperson."

I recall seeing those carriages being delivered to a test location (where they had to perform reliably for a set number of hours before being certified as fit for public usage) a few years ago on 'Train Tuckers'.

I thought the quote: "........ could see the Merseyrail network running to previously inaccessible places, including Manchester, Wrexham, Warrington, Preston and Runcorn, according to a Liverpool City Region Combined Authority spokesperson."
....was a bit unfair. I know those places are well north of Watford Gap Services, but I'd hardly call them inaccessible. As far as I know, lots of people have managed to visit them in the past. :)

A random display at a coffee shop, and a random location. Some may be more familiar with Bexley Heath Bus Garage than me.
DSC05323.JPG
https://www.stagecoachbus.com/promos-an ... er-garages#
"Bexleyheath was the first new trolleybus depot built by London Transport in 1935. It coincided with the conversion of local tram routes to trolleybus operation. It was converted to bus operation in 1959 when local trolleybus services ceased.

The garage closed in 1986, when its work moved to Plumstead, Catford and Sidcup. It re-opened in 1988, as a low-cost tendered operation under the Bexleybus brand part of Selkent, using buses in a blue and cream livery. Subsequent tender losses saw the garage ownership transfer in 1991 to London Central, who still operate local services."
