You unit may be faulty or the multifunction screen, can't really help without more info or fault codes.

Please post your VIN here so I can see exactly what system you have.
Hi Marc,
I also have this problem, but I think that my car has RD45 - VIN VF7**************[VIN obfuscated, can be read by forum staff].
The Bluetooth pairing and all functions worked perfectly until I had to change the center monochrome display due to its known fault of LCD leaking after time and heat.
Now the new display (from China) works OK but I just can't pair any phone.

Pairing procedure works: I can see my phone on the display, I can see Citroen trying to pair with the phone, but after PIN matching, regardless of what PIN I set, the operation always ends in "Pairing Error".

You reckon it has anything to do with the new display or I should just re-soft the Telematic Unit?

I don't remember seeing any fault codes here, but I can recheck if needed.

Thanks,
R.

Does the new display have a sticker on the back with a software version?

Early panels don't support RD45 Bluetooth.

@coolerl: No, your vehicle originally had just the RD4 system, so no RD45. What it did have was the optional hands-free kit though. This is a separate unit behind the dash that interfaces with the microphone and the RD4 and the display. So again the same applies. You must have the correct display screen fitted or you'll end up with compatibility issues.

The correct part number for the screen is: 9821851780, which is a superseded part.

This is the exact part I've got from Ali

Hope URLs are allowed :)

Unfortunately the display is already on the car and I don't really recall the sticker/software version.

What I can to, though, is just swap the LCD pannel between the units :))

I can really only advise on OEM equipment and not Chinese clones - I suspect they have cloned all the labels and stickers too, so you don't know what you're getting to be honest.

The RD4 and RD45 units and display panels for sale on Ali express are in my experience genuine PSA parts that have been removed from scrapped vehicles, or from vehicles that have been upgraded, I suspect from middle eastern markets.

That is basically what they say in the description of the product, but I do have trust issues :)

So you would advise in me trying to use DiagBox to upgrade the device and check if it works or rather just swap the LCD pannel?

You won't be able to do this I suspect - as there may be a firmware and a software version, and I don't believe you can update the software via Diagbox on these, but can't be 100%

I am not aware that any software upgrades have been released for the RD45, but there are some configuration options available.

The screen is either compatible or not dependant on the software version of the screen.

Yep, when my 407 screen died I got one from a C4, configured it but no telephone. got another, telephone was fine.
Until about Feb this year when I can call out but not receive calls. The phone rings via the cars speakers then nothing. Apparently the issue with mine is an Andriod update. Been meaning to get a really old (non smart) phone out of the cupboard to see if that works, it did 5 years ago.......

Notice the BX is still top the list but sadly gone
