Tasty! that looks promising
I've managed to order one with a standard width fascia so I wont have to trim it down I hope.
I'll be honest, only having the single FM tuner on my RD45 has always been annoying and at the back of my mind. It's OK when I'm at uni but at home in the welsh mountains it does leave a bit to be desired, especially when the old RD4 had 2 tuners.
Bit of a long shot but I'm hoping this Chinese version, as it's newer, will have a faster processor for indexing the USB and possibly a better bluetooth module.... we'll see.

It never ceases to amaze me what they knock off next! I do wonder what's inside though to be honest - but hell, if it works, tune in and turn it up!

Yeah, I'm quite excited now, shame the shipping will take ages
Do you have any thoughts regarding an antenna feed for trying the DAB? does the C5 have a facility for a DAB antenna anywhere?
My C5 has no visible external antenna at all so I'm not even sure where the FM ones are to be honest?

Re: RD45 questions + Microphone installation C5 X7 + Amplifier installation
The antenna is in the small roof aerial and also screen printed into the rear window on the saloon. The aerial amplifier is in the rear passenger side quarter light trim somewhere.
A DAB aerial for aftermarket units (even the Citroen recommended Auto DAB and EziDAB units required an external aerial, of which the bog standard one was attached onto the front windscreen. It consisted of a stick-on aerial, as opposed to a proper magnetic one which requires drilling.
Here's one going into a C4
Maybe that's what the chap in the C4 link I posted had fitted. Citroen do both types - one is an independent unit that displays the stations and has it's own controls and the other one is fully integrated into the car's systems, and uses the existing Head Unit to display the stations.

That's very interesting, i'm not sure how I feel about the stick on DAB aerial to be honest, doesn't look like a particularly tidy job, I think (if this head unit does indeed have DAB) I will have to come up with a less conspicuous solution, perhaps just under the scuttle panel or somewhere else.

Re: RD45 questions + Microphone installation C5 X7 + Amplifier installation
Update:
My Chinese RD45 arrived today, got it all fitted and working. It's nice to have dual FM antennas back again. Unfortunately the Green FAKRA connector on the back isn't actually active unfortunately, so no DAB never mind.
On the upside as well as the proper FM reception, the interface seems faster to use and the Bluetooth is definitely clearer so maybe it has a newer chip?
It looks a damn sight better in the X7's modern interior, the normal RD4 always looked a bit basic in my view.
Sorry for bad pic.
I had to change a couple of regional settings with Lexia, so if anyone is planning on upgrading their RD4 it would be a good idea to have access to Lexia
So I think I'm at the end of the RD45 journey now

Re: RD45 questions + Microphone installation C5 X7 + Amplifier installation
Hello!
After some time I finished my fight with the RD4 -> RD45 upgrade! I was quite satisfied but after about 4-5 weeks of using new features I am facing new problem (probably related to the RD45).
My new RD45 radio stopped playing and it is displaying "SILENCE", please see picture below:
I can normally access to all the configuration menus, bluetooth settings etc. I cannot change the source, nothing happens when incresing/decreasing volume or inserting CD. Even, unmute button is not working What is interesing I can normally use the hands free kit, phone to everybody. I replaced the radio with my old one and everything is working well. That is why I believe there is some kind of software failure / bug and my new radio just hang up. I had similar situations before (mainly with pairing the equipment). Is there any possibility to RESET / reboot the radio? I tried to disconnect it from the car but it did not help. Do you have any ideas? Maybe software upgrade? How can I do it?
BTW, I found "iPod mode" working when connecting the iPhone to the USB socket by original Apple wire! Free battery charging and great sound quality!

Can you confirm that you VIN coded the new unit to the car?

Re: RD45 questions + Microphone installation C5 X7 + Amplifier installation
Yes, I confirm that VIN is proper and telecoded. Normally, when someone is calling my phone during driving the radio is automatically switched to silent mode. I believe that it hang when someone was calling me.
Is there any way to reset the radio to factory default settings?

Re: RD45 questions + Microphone installation C5 X7 + Amplifier installation
Do you have a Diagbox / Lexia? There are no firmware updates to the non-telematic head units as a rule, but you can perform tests using diagbox to test the functionality of the buttons, volume, mute and speaker connections etc which might help narrow the problem. Have you checked your connections are secure (even within the pins) at the back of the unit? It's possible that there is a comms fault.

Re: RD45 questions + Microphone installation C5 X7 + Amplifier installation
I believe there is a way on the parameters menu of the radio to see if any of the steering wheel buttons are stuck down. This may cause all sorts of weird behaviour.

I will try to check what you suggest. But when I replaced RD45 with RD4 radio, the old one is working fine... I will let you know.
@Edit:
Every button is working fine. None is pressed all the time...

Re: RD45 questions + Microphone installation C5 X7 + Amplifier installation
Hi everyone. Like everybody I have problem with upgrading Rd4 to Rd45. Car: peugeot 207. Everything looks fine just bluetooth not working. Diagbox cannot communicate with hands free kit. My old Rd4 was factory fitted with separate Bluetooth/USB module. Mic Aux and USB wires from that module I moved to Rd45 radio. In Diagbox we activated usb-works fine. I cannot activate bluetooth. Maybe Rd45 foulty, even my android phone cannot find my cars bluetooth. Any ideas from what to start? Thanks.

Re: RD45 questions + Microphone installation C5 X7 + Amplifier installation
Hi and welcome.
I think your problem may be with the multifunction screen. There are 4 types of screen - 3 of them look identical - but the RD45 needs a particular one which is different to the one fitted with the RD4 standard unit. The correct one will depend on your DAM and options. If you have your VIN, I might be able to work out the right screen for you from the options. You will need either 1, 2 or 3. Obviously you already have one of these - so it may be one of the remaining 2. It is also referred to as EMF 'C' type screen.
