Thanks CitroJim. I have done all that 100 times and keep getting the message options(After Language Selection) Installatins /Update.or Uninstallation. on selecting either message, told to run Proxia Recovery Cd. Your suggestion to check file extensions for known file types hidden; seems worthwhile, and I will check that and let you know.

Thanks again CitroJim. " Installation of your application was successful" What a welcome message. The problem seems to have been caused by the file Version.txt, as the file itself contained the word "txt" (within the file) - on deleting this word from within the file, it loaded perfectly. Obviously the word being there was telling the programme that the main programme was installed, so it was only giving me the option to "Install/Update or Uninstall. All that remains now is to "Validate". Thanks again.

I haven't as the present one accesses and does everything I've ever wanted to do, which is quite a lot :-D

I quite agree. If V345 does all you desire then why change it...

JMD: Great news, excellent :-D

After a week I seem to have a "dud" Lexia. . I get a variety of messages as follows - "Unable to initialize Vehicle Communication Manager". "The Lexia cannot be started for the following reasons. The Citroen communications interface is being used by another application therefore the Citroen communications interface must be connected to the PC and the other application must be closed" Yet no other application is opened, although the Lexia is connected and the green light is on in the Lexia. It refuses to validate. Any ideas ?

I had similar events to yours when I initially installed Lexia on a very 'tired' copy of Windows XP. In tired I mean it had been used and abused and had all sorts of questionable software installed and had been in use for a very long time...

This I find is a problem with XP. If it's been in use for a few years it gets very flaky indeed.

I wiped it, reinstalled a fresh copy of XP with just Service Pack 2 applied and a whole new day dawned. Everything worked a perfect treat.

Also, disable any virus scanners and malware protection you may have installed. Some, especially McAfee, can wreak havoc.

So don't dismiss the Lexia as duff until you've reinstalled it on a clean build of XP. I'd never recommend installing Lexia on anything but a clean build.

Thank you CitroJim. I have carried out your recommendations. Formatted my HDD & re-installed Re-installed a clean copy of Xp, with the same result. Version.txt created in root directory. Visus checker & internet connection not installed, with Firewall turned off until Lexia was installed '' 'successfully '' accorting to the notice received, after installation. Following message then appears- "Unable to initialize Vehicle Communication Manager". "The Lexia cannot be started for the following reasons. The Citroën communications interface is being used by another application therefore the Citroën communications interface must be connected to the PC and the other application must be closed" . No hardware device clonflicts. So it does look as if my Lexia is DUFF.

If you want to post it to me I'll try it on my computer to see whether it's a hardware or software issue.

Unless your Lexia isn't able to carry out a procedure on the car's you're using it on I'd leave it well alone, why try fixing something that isn't broken?

From experience, these updates invariably either introduce new models (so the car will still be under warranty) or have some very obscure update for a van you've never heard of

Exactly, utterly and precisely

JMD, before you condemn the pod completely, you may have a USB fault preventing the PC from seeing it. Do this:

Boot XP and when started connect the pod. Wait a few moments and then click start, right-click on 'My Computer', Select 'Properties' click the 'Hardware' tab and click 'Device Manager'

In there you should see 'ACTIA USB DEVICE' in the tree of devices and if you expand it 'USB Com Board Evolution Driver (Multi-Instance)'

Double click on 'USB Com Board Evolution Driver (Multi-Instance)' and the box that opens up should tell you if it is working and the driver details.

If you don't see anything like that, try another USB device (anything, even a USB stick) to confirm that USB port is good or bad.

Check the driver version if it is detected. It should be 4.0.0.0

If a device comes up with a big yellow question mark in the device tree it may be the pod has been detected but no drivers have been found; it may need and it's drivers reinstalling to make it work...

That's done by inserting the Lexia CD, Right clicking on the unknown device and selecting update driver. Tell the driver wizard to search the CD and the wizard will then find them.

Hi Jim. Thanks again for your adcice & interest. Did all you say Actia USB device is there. Version is as say it should 4.0.0.0. However it is not setting itself up as I would expect -Under System Devices or Universal Serial Bus Controllers (as I would expect) but separately on the system under Device Manager. Wondering now after reading your message - if this might be my problem. The device driver dissapears when I unplug the Lexie, and appears in the same place again when plugged in to the USB. Location of driver displays 0 (zero) usb device .& shows ''working properly '' and ''no conflicts''

Yep, that's exactly as it should be jmd...

Next thing is to try a replacement CD/DVD. I'm sure one of us could let you have a copy...
