I am renovating a Citroen BX 1,6 TRS BE1 gearbox from 1988, and I am trying to buy a new syncromesh for the 1 and 2. gear.
My Citroen dealer tells me, at that they are not produced anymore, and that he can only get it from Peugeot for around 350 pounds!
Before I move into the world of jetfighter spare part prices, could anyone please tell me, if there is a cheaper alternative.

Try also C15 (the Visa commercial van) and almost any frontwheel driven Peugeot model same year models with the 16/19 engines.
Dont expect these cars to float around at the breakers however - as they dont stock the cars that long any more.
I doubt you can get any help at all from your Citroen (or Peugeot) dealers as they only stock parts with a reasonable turn-over.
Customers coming in asking for a set of new syncro rings really arent that common these days [8)]

I believe it's reference 06 above you need for 1.st & 2.nd gears.
It's not exactly a set of simple friction rings, but a rather complex part.

I am working in all the directions suggested and I will give you a resume, when I get to the end.
Also I am working on a solution that involves machining a piece of aluminium plating (lathe?) and riveting or screwing that in place instead of the worn ring. After all, that is the only part of the syncromesh, which is worn.

I haven't looked at the diagrams on this but imagine your problem is that the cone surface has worn away. Often these are bronze and it may be possible for you to get fresh bronze deposited (I use that loose term deliberately - may be by MIG or gas or metal spraying processes) by a specialist engineer who will then be able to machine it to the correct shape and surface.

The syncromesh is not done vith a cone.
It is done with an aluminium ring which, when engaged, is brought in contact with a steel cup. The friction between the ring and the cover is what makes the syncronisation.
The fault is not, that the ring is worn down. Instead it has buckled between the places where the rivets fixates it. I suspect metalfatique har turned the aluminium soft and flexible.
