Diagbox cannot communicate with hands free kit. My old Rd4 was factory fitted with separate Bluetooth/USB module. Mic Aux and USB wires from that module I moved to Rd45 radio. In Diagbox we activated usb-works fine. I cannot activate bluetooth. Maybe Rd45 foulty, even my android phone cannot find my cars bluetooth. Any ideas from what to start? Thanks.

Can I ask why you got an RD45 if your RD4 had the external Bluetooth and USB module already installed? I assume you are referring to the factory fitted BT and USB and not a third party one.

The RD45 already contains the hardware for Bluetooth and USB so does not require the external box.

I'm changing because my separate Bluetooth module "dead". So I decided buy Rd45. I got from China for 60 £ new one, meanwhile bluetooth module second hand cost 50 - 60£. Second think I had what to do in my free time 😁

I think your problem may be with the multifunction screen. There are 4 types of screen - 3 of them look identical - but the RD45 needs a particular one which is different to the one fitted with the RD4 standard unit. The correct one will depend on your DAM and options. If you have your VIN, I might be able to work out the right screen for you from the options. You will need either 1, 2 or 3. Obviously you already have one of these - so it may be one of the remaining 2. It is also referred to as EMF 'C' type screen.

EDC5 wrote: 01 Jul 2017, 22:02 Hi there, long time lurker, first time poster!

So I have replaced the RD4 in my '58' C5 with a RD45 (from a DS3), I used my Lexia to activate the fader for rear speakers and also activated the parking assistance etc.

My first question is about installing the microphone for the hands-free. I have removed the roof console an identified a two way connector that is for the microphone, unfortunately it appears to be a female connector. The microphone i have fitted is from a peugeot 607 and also has a female connector unless I am mistaken.

Do I need some sort of male to male adapter that appears here between the microphone cable and the white flexi cable from the loom?

The second question is do I need to do any wiring behind the dash to connect the microphone to the back of the RD45? some people seem to have run their own cable like in this thread:
viewtopic.php?t=48421&start=30

Surely its just a matter of finding the other end of the cable?

Sorry for the wall of text but this is the last snag in what has been a frustrating upgrade (Obtaining a screen with the correct firmware for bluetooth and USB playback)

Cheers

At RD4 they worked me neatly,.....they need to be re-activated??????

You need the Lexia to program the VIN code (unless the seller will program it for you).

If the new radio (RD45) already has Fader and parking assistance activated you will not have to activate it. But, if they are deactivated you will need Lexia to program the features to match your car.

Also remember you will need a screen with software greater than V.71 for the RD45.

Yes and just to add the what Elis has said ^ if you have parking sensors make sure they are configured for either rear, front or both depending on what you have as configuration here needs to match the parking assistance ECU that you have fitted.

There are many aftermarket sellers flogging Lexia kits, but the quality is variable - cheaper is not always better. Some cheaper ones will not contain all the hardware needed for later vehicles - so decide on what your needs are.

Realistically, you should have a laptop with a reasonable specification:
Proccessor: min frequency of 1.9 GHz, recommended I5
RAM: minimum 4Gb
HDD: minimum 11 Gb free for Diagbox suite
Screen resolution: minimum 1024x768 (VGA), screen rotation disabled
Internet Explorer: 8, 9, 10 or 11

I'm not going into virtual machines here, suffice it to say that ideally it must be installed on a 32 bit operating system (Windows 7 is fine) but not a 64 bit OS for native Lexia 3 or PP 2000 functionality.

As for Aliexpress - I don't use them for anything personally - I have had problems with some sellers asking for banking information they did not need, so have to conclude that there are unscrupulous sellers on there, so I will never order anything from that site. It is of course a personal choice and others have had no problems.

There are plenty of sellers on ebay - but make sure you buy a 'Revision C' unit.

As you asked...

I bought a Lexia clone form this Aliexpress vendor about a year ago: https://fr.aliexpress.com/item/2016-New ... Title=true It appears to be full specification, and communicates correctly with my 308 CC.

I very much doubt that that any display from before 2010 is bluetooth compatible.

You need to check that the software is higher than V.71

Also you need to get a screen that does not have the heating / AC controls on the screen.

Post up your VIN and I'll tell you what you have and which part no / model you need. However I wouldn't touch a Head Unit from Ali* . It's hard to know what you are buying. There should be plenty of originals about on the second hand market.

As far as I can tell bluetooth was not an option on the 206 in 2006. None of the screens mention this as an option, so I can't advise on this for the year of your car. The trouble is if you take a chance and buy a head unit from Ali--- they will not accept refunds or returns. They state that you must have the appropriate screen - which is what I was checking - but this is not listed as an option for this year.
