RENAULT GRAND MODUS doors wont open

Post by rachaelbriune »

I have just purchased a Renault grand modus automatic. Only the drivers door will open from the outside using the fob. I have to lean in or over to open the rear and passenger doors. Once I use the inside handles the doors can then be opened from the outside. I have a child who will be travelling in the back however I do not want to take him if i cannot open the rear doors. Any help would be amazing. Thanks in advance

Renault isn’t my speciality, but I do know that on some Peugeot and Citroen vehicles there is an option to unlock only the driver’s door or all the doors when using the fob.

This is something that may have been configured or programmed by the previous owner. With Citroen this option can be changed using a system menu on the car’s computer. How this is done on a Renault I can’t say, but should be similar.

Have a look in the handbook if you have it, and look in the section on vehicle access or locking and unlocking. It should show you how to access the option to set the fob to unlock all the doors by default. It was a security feature if you frequently didn’t have passengers, so that the other doors didn’t open when unlocking where you may have valuables in the back or to reduce the risk of being carjacked etc.

Indeed - my daughter had a Rover 75 that did this. One click for drivers door, two for driver+passenger, three for rear doors and something else for the boot.
Confusing initially.
