Scenic 2 Resetting the ECU

Post by Hector Brocklebank »

Hi Folks

I have an 04 Scenic 1.5 DCI 80, a few months ago the battery died and was replaced.
When is started the car on it's new battery it said there was a fault with the parking brake and the little "Triangle with the P" lit up and the Service light.
The handbrake works exactly as it should and it passed its last MOT no problems.

I want to get the ECU reset to clear the codes but will not take my car anywhere near a dealer, i was hoping there was a manual way to clear the ECU, i have tried disconnecting the battery for a few hours to no avail

any ideas would be greatly appreciated

Kindest Regards
James

Maybe a lame idea -

But have you tried the simple approach applying and releasing the handbrake very stringent (but not violent) - several times both before and after a short trip ?

Commonly there is a very simple touchpad switch for the handbrake lever- sensing the lever is fully released (resting in down position).
Sometimes this switch can be caught by the carpeting or any empty sweets boxes/bags from childrens activity etc.

Hector,
Do you have the electronic "handbrake"?
Did you get this sorted? I have the same problem.
